OK, it is that time of year again when everybody should be done with their concerts and we get a chance to sit in a room for hours on end listening to program after program of great music from great bands. That's right it is time for Honor Band.

 

As most of you probably know, there are 3 levels of judging in the Honor Band process just like UIL Marching; Region, Area, and finally State. Here is a link to my Honor Band article from 2006:

i am 99% sure we are in region 5 b/c I know our director said June 6th today but he doesn't want any of us to go so he didn't tell us where it's at. anyways i don't even think he'll be there himself b/c he's leaving for the cadets on friday

 

oh yeah xenon where would u be at for region, i would love if u come listen to our recording and see if u can guess which one it is shouldn't be difficult it is in 3A after all

I will be at Region 24 on June 7th if I can find out what time it starts, and Region 20 on June 9th if I can get off of work that day.

 

I wouldn't mind going to Region 5 as well, but I don't think I'll be able to take off both Friday and Monday.

all right finally found where we are, didn't realize it was the same as uil, but whatever anyway woohoo for Saturday at Flower Mound, not sure if director will make it b/c he's leaving for Cadets this weekend

I did not attend the listening but from what I've heard, the 5As were all pretty good. This region was really stacked as a far as concert band is concerned.

 

As for Harlingen not advancing, their program was nowhere near as competitive as Lopez, Hanna, or even Donna for that matter.

 

The complete 5A results were:

1 Lopez HS - Advance to Area

2 Hanna HS - Advance to Area

3 Harlingen HS

4 Donna HS

5 Harlingen HS South
