    UIL Area B 2022

So many excellent bands in Area B! My sleeper pick for Area Finals this year is Lake Highlands. Reagan Brumley (former Director of Bands at Highland Park, 2011-2020) is now in his 2nd year at LH. He and his excellent staff are building a great program with some super-dedicated students. LH was 9th in Area B prelims last year. I was able to see them perform a couple weeks ago at the Midlothian contest. So impressive. They seemed to be well ahead of where they were at the same time last year - and with a more demanding book. Will be interesting to see where they finish at the Duncanville invitational.

  3. Well, that's another one for the books. Congrats to Moe & Gene Johnson for the regional win. The improvement over the last few years has been astounding! I've ran parking before, but this was my first time in action, so to speak. Everyone was lovely and all ready for band. I've asked volunteers what they enjoy about Midland each year, and the most common response I've received was how laid-back everyone is and how well the rules were respected consistently. I've also received a few credible complaints about the difficulty of reaching the stadium for the disabled with the lack of disabled parking spots- I think this is a valid concern and will pass on the comments to BOA/MFA. Thanks to Midland Legacy for their hard work today to ensure the competition is ran well. We've had wonderful volunteers to help direct traffic and everything else in between.

  4. If there was something wrong with how it was reported on texasmusicforms, it’s fixed now! I’m seeing a full sweeps from Aledo at region, which makes much more sense.

  5. I saw them live at boa dfw, and while I like last year's show more, they were still incredible! NO WAY could they have received a 2.... maybe went over the time limit? Thats the only possible way I see them getting a 2, and they aren't even having a ruff season! Won Preview of Champions, 2nd overall at Mesquite marching festival, and while they didn't make finals at bow dfw, they still did great against some stiff coemption.

  6. I think you may be mistaking Mansfield Legacy and Midland Legacy (formerly Midland Lee). Mansfield Legacy did not compete here.

Post BOA Dallas predictions 1-2: Coppell, Keller Although Coppell was ahead at Dallas, Keller still has a lot of cleaning to do so they'll be up here 3-5: Waxahachie, Timber Creek, L.D. Bell Bell really surprised me at Dallas this past weekend. I hope they can keep up their momentum and keep cleaning to get back to state. Waxahachie and Timber Creek will likely move up in my opinion. 6-8: Southlake Carroll, Keller Central, Duncanville Carroll will be better than what they did at Dallas, so I do anticipate them to move up here. Keller Central should contend for state and based on what I have seen of Duncanville, they look better than last season and could possibly fight for state spot 9-12: Haltom, Highland Park, Lake Ridge, James Martin Martin did make finals at Dallas, but there are no guarantees. Lake Ridge is very strong this year, as well as HP and Haltom. Honestly, I could see any combination of two schools here

    2022 BOA DFW (Oct. 8)

Broken Arrow won’t be going next year, they go 2 years and skip 1. That is unless they break that cycle and go just to screw with hebron lol. Believe me, I do not want to be thinking about 2023 just yet

  12. Klein Oak's prelims perf from LSP is on the YouTube already. waaaay improved over BOA North Houston. music is much more locked in rhythmically. aaaand the guard isn't in t-shirts. hurray! i think their final placement at BOA was more just the result of having an off performance in prelims, dooming themselves to the bottom half in finals. and ok that trombone soloist is 🔥
