Alright fine I’ll throw my hat in the ring 😅 1st - Wakeland/Lone Star (both are just soooooo clean) 2nd - Wakeland/Lone Star 3rd - Lebanon Trail (known to be clean by area) 4th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North (scores will be either really close, or spread out a lot imo) 5th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North 6th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North 7th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North 8th - Emerson/Walnut Grove (Scores were really close last year) 9th - Emerson/Walnut Grove 10th - Independence/Memorial/Frisco Centennial/Heritage Im trying not to base my rankings off of previous comp scores since they all happened over 2 weeks ago and these comps rarely mimic UIL judging. 👍9 points -

my predictions for area 1. North mesquite (although their show is boring, their marching technique is very good. I see them placing 1st at area.) 2 Kaufman (I havent seen them irl, but ive seen their performances on recording and they look great!) 3 HP ( hp has been looking very good this season, i havent seen them in person yet so i dont have many comments on them.) 4 MT pleasant / WM (mt pleasant has been doing great this year, they look very clean. West mesquite has also been improving very well throughout the season. although mt pleasant beat wm at battle of the spear, i feel like wm can make great improvements before area.) 5 MT pleasant / WM 6 Poteet ( although at the start of the season they were struggling, they ended up making great improvements. Placed them lower because WM placed higher at MMF but they might be doing better im not sure ill have to check their recent performances out) 7 LC ( i put them below because they are very close but not quite there yet. Hopefully they clean before area this Saturday.) Im very excited to see how these bands battle it out. Its going to be very competitive this year. these are my predictions for area!7 points -
this is my prediction for area f on saturday: 1. midlothian high school 2. burleson centennial 3. hebron 4. midlothian heritage 5. aledo i’m excited to see these bands this saturday! good luck to everyone4 points

Looking at this the content part of it really sticks out to me. Not to put other bands down but most stay still while playing with just doing choreo. “Frequently/Demand of Movement while playing” that’ll be good for those bands that have very challenging music and also can do it well on the move with challenging drill.2 points

6 will advance. 3 military schools and one other school will not be in attendance but still qualified so their number counts towards how many advance. There were exactly 30 qualifying schools so 12 in finals and 6 advance.2 points -

Burnet and Fredericksburg to state. Everything else is up for grabs. Bands to watch - La Grange, Taylor, Stafford, Brazosport, Needville, Columbia2 points -
As someone who is from this area and also perhaps works here it's been awesome seeing 2 state finalists in 2022 and 2023 from up here. Love seeing the representation from all areas in 4A at the state finals level. Tough contest! One really good band is going to have to stay home this year that would have advanced last year and I don't envy the judges. Best of luck to all!2 points

This area is going to be so interesting. I got to see Sachse for the first time tonight and if they can clean up some drill I think they'll have a better shot at the top 4. Was very impressed. Rockwall was very clean and sounded good. Forney sounded okay, not the power that we're used to seeing from them or from the size of that band. I honestly think it'll entirely depend on how the judges interpret things because theres no doubt waxahachie will make it but Rockwall and JJ Pearce have very clean productions that don't take too many risks while Forney and Sachse have larger productions that are riskier and will the judges credit them for that, only time will tell. November 2nd is going to be crazy!2 points -
Correct. 22 out of the 24 6A bands in Area C were rated as Superior in their Region competitions. They all have advanced to Area C competition in Mesquite on 11/2. 10 will make finals and the top 4 from finals will advance to State competition.2 points

I don't think they're done with the show. They historically don't debut the full show with props until UIL Area. I was at Region 2 last weekend and it was the same ending as BoA Prosper. Definitely abrupt and kind of a "Huh?" moment. The folks in front of me with Marcus shirts were talking about looking forward to seeing the full show so I'm anticipating there will be more at Area J.2 points -

if I am being honest, the way everything is set up this year could be genuinely historic. however, we can't sleep on two bands, both being JET and Tompkins. I'll start with Tompkins, their opener is genuinely the best written for their members, and they perform it amazingly, and if they get foot timing clean enough, the visual color mixing and "dizziness" will get them BIG points at UIL. It's up to them to musically blow me away for the rest of the show though. Now, JET has the opportunity to genuinely come out of nowhere and upset everyone. Visually the best in KatyISD, but musically they lack the WOW factor that UIL judges look for. Everytime I have seen them perform, they always tear during their Vesuvius lick, and if they can get that clean and make the rest of the show as exciting as other shows like 7L or Jordan, I can easily see them beating out a powerhouse to get that 5th spot. Other than that, I have this as my final rankings going into next week post-region 23 1. Bridgeland (duh) 2. Cy-Woods 3. Jordan or Cy-Fair 4. Jordan or Cy-Fair 5. 7L or JET 6. 7L or JET 7. Tompkins 8. Cinco 9. Langham Creek 10. Katy2 points -
UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2024 (Nov. 13)
whatsbandman and one other reacted to thejitfromband for a topic
My thoughts are that state finals will be composed of area c and area b with a couple of outliers. Area c has celina, sulphur springs and farmersville leading the pack with all those three bands being capable of taking home the medals. Area b has panther creek and china springs leading their pack. However all 7 bands coming from area c are capable of making finals since north lamar and canton will be in the lower half. It's frustrating but at the same time fascinating how some areas can just dominate. It also shows how deep area b is since old area b bands will be making state this year who haven't in a while or ever. And the bands that stayed will be more free to make state. I'm hoping for some new finalists this year and medalists.2 points -

Reminder that BOA and UIL judging are very very different, and a lot can happen in 2 weeks. I agree Wakeland is having an amazing year and will most likely come out on top, but it could be closer than many are thinking for 1 and 2.2 points -

I definitely agree with this prediction, of offense to reedy or other band that are having a great season, but I feel like there are so many reedy kids in this form that skyrocket their band up. Doesn’t mean that they can’t place that high, just think this might be the most accurate.2 points -

I kinda feel bad for them and Canton. There’s been so much negative on this thread like they are shadows of their former self’s. I didn’t get that impression from the videos that were shared and that I’ve seen. im routing for them and everyone else to have their best performances and I hope it’s a hard decision for the judges. I hope I can get to this contest and watch.1 point -
It's super interesting seeing the predictions from early on in the season comoared to now. Before, Celina was unanimously agreed to be 1st, but now it seems that they are favored second with either Sulphur Springs or Farmersville taking the first place spot. North Lamar and Paris were also placed pretty high as the season started but have seemed to settle at the lower spots as area approaches. Unlike other years, I haven't noticed Canton be mentioned a lot where as last year I would pretty much see their name in every predictions post. It seems this season has really mixed up compared to previous years and those bands that used to be in thw shadows of other programs are coming into the spotlight with something to show.1 point

I feel bad for the schools like Waxahachie, Richardson, and North Forney who go super early, plus Richardson has an away game the night before in Lake Highlands. Those 3-5 AM call times are gonna suck, plus they will end up having to stay at the competition from like 10 AM until at least 8:45 PM, but realistically more like 10 or 11, assuming they make finals. But I do feel like runs earlier in the day do end up being cleaner, since the bands aren't tired yet, but after those long days it must suck to do a run late at night too.1 point -

It’s actually 5 regardless!! Even if a band opts out of area, the number taken to state is based on the number of bands who get 1’s at region. So for some reason, if only 8 bands pull up to area, 5 still go to state! Also, here’s my top 5 preds: 1. CP 2. Rouse 3. Leander 4. Liberty Hill/Glenn 5. Glenn/ LH1 point -
