  1. The key to being a student on here is: take only the positive comments, and leave only positive comments.

  2. I’d like to really hope you aren’t an actual member of the Vandegrift community and are just some random kid trolling seeing as you made your account just to say that and went out of your way to affiliate with a band program I think that may be the case.

  4. Let’s remember that we represent a program and district before we say rude things about kids performing to the best of their ability.

  5. Final thoughts from tonight. 1. flomo is very very good 2. Nobody else today was as good as flomo 3. I love flomo 4. Flomo can have my kids 5. I will move to flomo so my kids can be at flomo 6. their directors must be magic bcuz the turn around from their bad super hero show in 2022 to this is insane 7. Flomo for sure is on that podium 8. I’m changing my user name to Flomo fan 9. I quit my job to binge watch the flomo YouTube channel

  8. Alright after Westlake my list for finals is almost full ! Thank goodness this is only a one day competition !

  9. This isn't a UIL situation where those tend to leak. You're better off trying to find the nuclear codes than BOA prelims results before the end of the competition.

  10. It's the times like this where I feel bad that I don't quite have it in me to write up positive comments for literally everyone, because there are truly great things about every single show here.

  11. Okay I said this as a joke but here’s how I think the bands would’ve placed if this WAS a one day competition Flower Mound - GE Vista Ridge - Music Rouse Cedar Park - Visual Ronald Reagan Cedar Ridge Leander Round Rock Keller James Bowie Westlake CTJ MG Johnson McNeil

  12. I so agree with this! Had to get everyone packed for the road trip to SA and missed the rest of the morning line up. Have seen several of the shows at other contests already and know they did beautifully today as well. I do think sometimes Vandegrift and Hebron get an automatic leg up in preference because of reputation and past performances, but there's no arguing they are both tremendously talented programs. It's not as if people are saying they are amazing and in reality they aren't. Those bands are both tremendous. There are a lot of underdogs in the fight though that are putting out podium worthy performances who I think maybe don't get the credit they deserve for not only hanging with some of these behemoth legends, but honestly outperforming in my opinion in terms of pure aesthetics, emotion and audience engagement. I'm not a music expert so I know there's a lot the judges are aware of that I totally miss. I only know what I like when I hear it and see it. These kids are all amazing. Every single band that takes the field deserves to be there and they are playing their hearts out. They are literally the best of the best. We all have our preferences and I don't see a problem in comparing the shows themselves, that's the nature of the contest. If you're going to speak on a single band by name, and not the performance they just left on the field, please for the sake of the kids who are living the emotions of all of this, let your words be ones that lift them up.

  17. BoA SA….where the “bubble” for finals is almost as big as the entirety of the prelims group. Love this event.

  18. Well, as to no surprise, Hebron was nothing short of what the best in the country are. From start to finish, it was simply magical. I really love this show, not only because its being executed on such a high level, but because it's one of their "easier" shows (for their standards) which has allowed them to be so much cleaner and it really shows. Drill was nearly flawless, and they sounded just unreal, that Enigma ballad, so emotional. And their guard has built off their success from the last WGI season, and it's showing. It's going to be tight for the top spot, but I wouldn't be surprised if they take it, outstanding job Hebron

  20. Cedar Park is good, but I don't see them getting two spots in Finals. And I think Vista Ridge is more likely to be upper half than miss Finals.

  33. What a magical show from Cy-Fair!! That percussion is just insane, what a performance they had. Soloists are just top tier, that Oboe in the ballad, omg, definitely got me emotional. Great sounds from the ensemble, so much GE throughout, and a super great use of the props, super cool, great drill writing and an awesome performance, amazing job yall!

  34. Sadly this account might be a real person from the vandy community. In the stands I have heard many people say some pretty foul stuff regarding schools such as flomo and Hebron and not just kids many parents too. People often forget these are just high school kids

  35. No offense to my Flower Mound homers out there… I just think Hebron is untouchable! Their drill and musical selection is so effective in conveying ‘amorphous’, not to mention it’s extremely clean—so much so that the amorphous bits in the drill stand out even more. I may be proven wrong here in a few hours, but I only see a certain Leander school giving them trouble today.

  36. Forney brining the party this morning!! Really love the energy they place with, such a fun show and they've got an amazing sound, holy cow brass. WW feature was tight, and I LOVED the percussion feature, great job ya'll!!

  37. Wow The Woodlands, wow wow wow!!! As to no surprise, the guard stole the show away, at least for me. Just an insane amount of double rifle work and extremely high tosses that is nothing short of easy for them. Soloists all around were great, loved the small ensemble going into the opening hit. Super pretty ballad, that Sparano was on fire. Really great low brass feature, for only having 7 this year those tubas are heard, WW feature was super clean, some challenging technical passages they just nailed. I do think they've got a stronger run in them tonight, but that was just fantastic, amazing job TW!

  38. I don’t think it’s a problem due to limited arrangers, or a problem at all for that matter. Good source material is good source material and I love metropolis 1927. Cedar park used to use music that Carolina crown either just used or would use the following summer due to Michael Klesch writing for both groups. That being said doing something from an iconic championship winning show is going to mean that comparisons will be drawn. I’m glad Leander used Lost it to Trying 9 years before bloo 24.

  41. MCNEIL WHAT!!!!! Call me crazy but I would be 100% not surprised if we saw them again tomorrow. Talk about precision!! I was looking all over the field for a foot out of time and couldn’t find ONE! Forms moved together, beautiful ensemble sound, just WOW!!! Biggest pleasant surprise of the day by far!!

  43. I don't know how Marcus makes such big sound for such a small band! And y'all I swear I don't think those kids ever stop moving. Good grief, this band throws goosebumps every time I see them perform. The brass again killing it and the overall musical ensemble just smashing it.

  44. Good morning TW! After being in the dome all day yesterday, that was by FAR the hardest and most entertaining show of the competition! That GUARD oh my gosh!!

  46. Seriously. The last 5 bands all showed that they want to be in finals. Can we get like a 20 way tie for 14th?
