I would finally love to see a BOA San Antonio winner finally face off against vs Carmel and avon at grand nats too.
I think the last time the BOA San antonio winner attended at Grand nats was 2013 (Woodlands). They ended up winning nats, hmm?? 🤔
I wish we could see the very best band from Texas vs Avon, carmel, and BA every year!
On top of that If you watch shows today compared to 10 years ago, In my opinion today is just way better. A 12th place finish at BOA SA in 2014 would be a 35th place show today. And i think the shows have gotten way more creative and visually stimulating.
Just my opinion. I'm ok If you disagree.
you were in color guard?!!! that's so cool!! a lil different in that era tho, for sure. LOL.
it's also neat that u went on to win Nats as a director for the same program. a bit delayed, but you still got a championship!!
You can still have a positive mindset of doing your absolute best without having to set your goal as winning it all. In fact, a positive mindset recognizes that you can't control outcomes...all you can control is the effort you put into it. And as long as you feel like you did your best, that's all that matters.
So I'm not being a debbie downer here. I'm just talking about setting realistic goals...and then next year setting higher goals than what you accomplished. And keep improving from there.
petition from gatesville to get their winterguard started, they had only 1 during 2022 and the guard REALLY wants to do a winterguard show but we dont have enough funding

I actually hear what you are saying and even agree with you somewhat. I honestly believe that the issue is the fact that UIL state now happens every year for every classification. Gone are the shows that were more artistic and BOA oriented for bands who were not concerned with UIL SMBC that year. These shows were longer and had more interesting elements than the ones geared to UIL years where bands must stick within that 8 minute show timeframe and focus primarily on music performance. I hate what this “UIL every year” situation has done for marching band. Sure it’s cool to say your band goes to state finals every year, but at what cost? The cost of art and creativity, I’m afraid. 😔
