Hello, out of state band parent here. We are potentially looking at maybe coming to BOA San Antonio for 2025. What potential camps or barracks are near that area that could host a band. Trying to avoid hotels because they seem more expensive. Thanks for your input in advance!

Are you coming into San Antonio via plane or busses? I don’t know of any non hotel options- but if you have busses and don’t have to stay right downtown for access to the dome- hotels a little bit away from downtown are a little more affordable. It’s not ideal- but if the budget needs every penny pinched- a La Quinta can house kids- 6 to a room if you use the pull out couch instead of the standard 4 to a room. Our band uses Tourrrific to help book things and they have experience with lots of group sizes- they might be able to offer some suggestions.

And I don’t believe it’s the culture of the entire band, even if someone from Vandy DID say something like that. Surely they were joking. I also know good and well that Jarrett isn’t going to skip out on a future trip to GN for such a ridiculous reason and none of the kids currently in the program have ever even experienced GN. Give it a year or two and I bet we see Vandegrift return to Lucas Oil.

Also even though it is a dis-advantage in grand nats, I for one am glad for an 8 hour limit because that’s definitely enough, and to have like 18 hours weekly like some schools would just kill me.
