  1. Hey everyone! I present to all, the 2025 DCI Prediction Game Award Ceremony! Today, we are going to congratulate and celebrate the art of DCI and everything that went down into this past season of Drum Corps and our Predictions! Without further ado, let's give a big round of applause to our 2025 DCI Predictions Winner, @Dave609!!! He won with 783.39 points and predicted all but 1 event (Don't worry most didn't predict that event either lol). He had a very high average point amount with 11.743 per event which when compared to all the events, that is very good! Here are the top 10 Predictors who all got the 2025 DCI Predictions Badge! @Dave609 - 783.29 Points @J-Mike16 - 778.84 Points @Bushpresident - 755.96 Points @Tubalord11 - 748.15 Points @Hags CSHS TPT - 722.55 Points @certifiedscore - 641.93 Points @lemme cook - 450.37 Points @Trombone_lover17 - 407.92 Points @WanderingTraveler - 380.43 Points @JustaTuba - 312.49 Points I would like to personally congratulate WanderingTraveler who joined mid-season and managed to climb into the top 10. Awesome Job! I do want to congratulate those who placed right outside the top 10, 11. @SharksAreCool - 234.71 Points 12. @Mike McBandiel - 218.90 Points 13. @euph15 - 213.34 Points --------- Now, onto more awards and little fun facts about the game and the predictors. First, we had 38 amazing predictors which is much lower than all the other seasons of Predictions however we brought back DCI Predictions for the first time in many years (It definitely must be more than 10 years) so 38 is a good amount of people who showed interest into the game. Hopefully if we do DCI next year, the number will grow! The overall average points earned from each event was 8.837 points, while the average points per predictor was 213.39 points. The overall number of points earned was 8,108.82 points. We set a new record of 5 Predictors getting over 700 points which is INSANE! Top 5 most predicted events: Drums Along the Rockies with 23 (This was the very first scored event, so it makes sense) Corps Encore with 22 (2nd scored event) Northwest Youth Music Games Seattle with 21 (3rd scored event, notice a trend here? lol) DCI Capital Classic with 20 (8th scored event, oh wow a change!) Rotary Music Festival with 19 (4th scored event) Now the 5 least predicted events: Bushwackers Invitational with 6 Drums Across the Desert with 7 So Cal Classic: Open Class Pacific Championship Finals with 7 The Buccaneer Classic with 7 Beats in the Brooks with 7 Plus 4 others with 7 as well. Bushpresident and certifiedscore predicted all 69 events (There were several more but got cancelled due to weather) while Dave, Hags, and myself predicted 68. Dave and I missed Western Corps Connection and Hags missed The Buccaneer Classic. ----- As we finish out the awards ceremony, I want to again congratulate those who finished in the top 10 and also to everyone who participated in the re-instated DCI Predictions. I am not going to lie; I was pretty nervous about whether or not we were going to get many players. I am really happy we got 38 because I had in mind maybe about 10 to 20 people would play. Let's take a breather from the intensity of DCI before the start of HS Marching Band Season that is already in effect. With that in mind now, I do want to announce that I will be away on vacation from August 29th to September 9th (Going on an Alaskan Cruise and will be celebrating my 25th birthday while in Alaska 😁). So Clarinot will be starting the Predictions for HS Bands. And with that, we are finished with this chapter of Predictions and the award ceremony! This has been a fun and enjoyable ride throughout the season as we watched Boston Crusaders come out on top with their 1st Championship title on their 85th year! and with that, I'm out! Toodles! (I've been saying that a lot recently...) *Yes I did do this a week later*

  3. With this being said I think it’s so important that when students read these forums, the overall forums average range of placements for these band programs isn’t the box of placement for that program. STUDENTS, we are people who have marched and just love the activity and have come back, some maybe just continuing on what they’re doing. Don’t let any of what we say affect how you rehearse and enjoy the Band Experience. Keep working and keep practicing! No matter what school you go to, your hard work is appreciated just as much as the next school.

  4. Boa is a great experience for all schools regardless of size. Obviously more beneficial for larger schools but getting to perform in front of large crowds is more fun for the students, especially if they win their class, and they are still receiving great adjudication

  6. I got the privilege to make it to Rock Hill and Walnut Grove high school’s parent showcase and I’m very impressed to say the least. Rock Hill and their show was a big step up creative wise from past years and it finally feels like they’re stepping away from crowd pleasers and heading towards more competitive shows like they had in 2022. Also enjoying their visual aspects which I feel like struggled last year. I also really like their trombone parts (I’m slightly biased). Walnut Grove in the same way surprised me. To be frank they haven’t been the best since their opening in comparison to other PISD schools but watching the content in their first two parts was really entertaining and challenging. It feels like they’ve finally created a show that represents their program. On top of that a parent over there was talking about how they had 3 ensembles qualify for music for all’s convention in Indy. So I’ll be curious to see how that’ll transfer from concert band to marching! Lastly, I think if performed to the best of their ability both of these schools could make a deep impact into finals!

  13. Totally agree with you with Emerson being a shocker. Maybe a little too high for where I’m thinking. 1. Wylie 2. Rockhill 3. Pearce 4. Rockwall/Argyle 5. Argyle/Rockwall 6. Emerson 7. Coyllieville Heritage 8. Lebannon Trail 9. Plano East/Reedy 10. Reedy/Plano East/Independence If Celina does do this contest they could be a potential finalist to squeeze in. These are just my thoughts for reference.

  14. Looking at the schedule in depth now and here’s my takeaways from it. Rockwall Heath and Rick Reedy have real early morning times. Really hope that doesn’t affect their show. Wylie and Prosper up early will be a nice watch, at least for me. That third block is insane. Would hate to be in that block with all the finalist potentials in there. Obviously saved the best for last with Marcus going last. Also rough draw for Forney to be in between Coppell and Marcus, but I think they can still pull it off.

  16. This feels pretty good. I think Wylie wins, Pearce silver medals and Rock Hill takes bronze. As I mentioned in the BOA Prosper thread, def. expect a bounce back from Rock Hill. Argyle seems to keep getting stronger so I give them the edge over Rockwall. I agree with the finalists, could see Reedy a spot or two higher ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

  17. I wish I can watch big schools too but for me there is too much going on at times and some of the schools go from end zone to end zone and I end up missing stuff. The smaller schools is more my style. I do try and see some big schools but for me sometimes less is more.

  19. Maybe. I’m more of a mid/small school band fan. There’s a few bands I follow in 5A but it was because I got to know them in 4a and below.

  27. Yeah I could see Argyle as well. Grapevine is still iffy for me bc while they’ve had a couple great seasons I feel like they could fall off, not hoping they do but maybe and it’s their first comp, but I do think Lebanon is still the stronger program by a good amount. I could also see it going like this: 1. Wylie 2. Argyle 3. Rockhill/Pearce 4. Pearce/Rockhill/Rockwall 5. Rockhill/Rockwall 6. Colleyville 7. Lebanon 8. Plano East 9&10: Reedy, Emerson, Memorial, Grapevine, Independece, Melissa, Heath? Like the last 2-3 spots will be a crazy battle and then like 2-7. Lowkey one of the most competitive comps in North Texas this year

  28. As of now: 1. Wylie 2. RockHill (this season will be much better) 3. Pearce 4. Rockwall 5. Argyle 6. Colleyville 7. Lebanon 8. Plano East 9. Reedy 10. Emerson. this feels so wrong and I have no clue how this will play out, will need some early season results to make more concrete placements

  30. This deserves applause. I don’t really understand why we predict before any videos have leaked or contests have happened. We’re basing it on absolutely nothing but reputation. I’m guilty of it too and I’m not sure why I did it.

  31. Im holding off on predictions this year until I see some videos and performances from all the different shows. So far it seems like all the schools are being VERY tight lipped about letting videos of performances, run throughs, etc. get out from band camp. I remember last year seeing things posted at this point in the year to get a decent indicator on how groups were kicking off the year. On a side note - it's crazy to the point of being comical to use ANYTHING from the judging/scoring at Area contest last year to compare. Area was an absolute disaster with all the rain delays, groups starting performances having to stop and restart, groups sitting on their busses for literally 4 hours in the parking lots then go straight to warm up and perform, it was ridiculous. In any event, Im really curious to see what this Area has to offer this year. Ill be the old guy sitting on the 50 at Region, Katy Marching, etc. cheering obnoxiously for every group that performs 🤣

  32. With all the recent improvements and leaks ive seen/heard I honestly think Walnut and Emerson are going to make massive improvements this year. I think both are going to be high prospects for the 5-7 spots, possibly one sneaking into 4th place as Argyle is looking less promising this season. That being said Wakeland and Lone Star are still guaranteed top 2 in my eyes, and with the way the judges like North they are a solid third. With the new judging changes/director changes and other things, I don't think Liberty, Heritage, and Reedy can keep up the placements they got last year. A lot of their key members recently graduated as well, so who knows how they'll do following some surprising results in 2024

  34. Hello TXBands community, My name is Brandon Foskett! I am a former TX band kid, where I attended Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, TX from 2015–2019 and was a drum major in the 2018 season that brought us the closest we've ever been to a shot at 6A State finals and BOA SA finals! I went on to pursue a music education degree at the University of Texas at Austin, but I quickly switched to a degree in music history after nerding out too much in my music "core" classes. I am now a PhD student in Musicology at UT Austin! I am still a band kid at heart, going to as many BOAs each fall as possible and still playing the TXBands Predictions game religiously (where I have ranked top 10 the past 2 years, although I think I will have to sit this fall season out for the following reason...). In addition to my music studies, I am also a member of Texas 4000 for Cancer, a 501(c)(3) organization that bikes 4,000+ miles from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska every summer to raise funds for cancer research and support services. As a part of the Texas 4000 for Cancer team, I am embarking on a transformative journey, and I would like as many people in my cherished "band family" to "ride along" with me. 50 of my teammates and I will pedal in the World’s Longest Annual Charity Bike Ride to spread hope and raise awareness of cancer in numerous communities in Texas, the US, and even Canada. Each mile we ride is a testament to our commitment to positively impacting the lives of those affected by cancer. I believe in the power of my "roots" and the power of collective action! Support from people like you can help me achieve some remarkable outcomes: Funding Critical Research: Your donation supports the summer ride and contributes to groundbreaking cancer research that can lead to improved treatments, early detection methods, and, one day, a cure. Supporting Patients and Families: Donations will also aid in supporting patients and their families as they navigate the challenges of cancer treatment and recovery. Spreading Awareness: Our journey is not just a physical one—it's a journey of raising awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of a united effort. I would be honored if anyone in the TXBands "band fam" felt generous enough to make a donation to Texas 4000 for Cancer. Texas 4000 for Cancer has raised over $4 million dollars in the past 20 years alone, which I find pretty remarkable for a student-led non-profit. Any and every little amount makes a difference! If you'd like to join us in this endeavor, you can donate by visiting my fundraising page at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/2026teamfundraising/account/2032649-brandon2alaska. To learn more about Texas 4000 for Cancer, our mission, our impact, how to donate, and/or how to receive tax exemption documentation, consider visiting https://www.texas4000.org/ or emailing info@texas4000.org. DCI 2025

85 seasons...multiple time bridesmaid... locked out of the G7 ... Boston Crusaders finally climbs the mountain and stand on top with an old school throw back type of show to boot. Congrats BAC!! What a ride the last few years has been watching and cheering for them to advance. Another huge kudos goes out to Santa Clara Vanguard. "Don't call it a come back...." And they had a Texas High School link this year with SASI working with their leadership team. Some notables in SASI (Spicer, Vandoren (Vandegrift), Yee (Cedar Park), Mike Howard (Leander ISD), White (Reagan) and a lot more of extremely talented top tier staff. I was happy to see Troopers in 10th. What a season.
