  1. Just wait until you see the new predictions for 2021! I've been sitting on that one for quite a while since 2020 was... well... you know.
  2. It looks a bit different than before, but it's still there: If there are unread posts there should be an icon next to the title, clicking that should take you to where you last left off in the thread. Let me know if that's not what you were looking for.
  3. Fixed!
  4. Thank you for the details on this. I submitted a ticket to the company that makes our forum software to see if they can tell me how to fix it.
  5. Do you mean this one? --->
  6. Another great one from 2005... yes we had a menu two layers deep, and the colors of the website changed randomly every time the page loaded (yes, I thought this was a clever design idea in 2005) and my wit in the footer of the page shines through. We also sold "winner in life" tshirts
  7. In honor of our 15th anniversary redesign, may I present.... TxBands.com 2005: https://web.archive.org/web/20051109034430/http://www.txbands.com/
  8. Do you see the indicators on the desktop site? Could you screenshot what you see from the mobile site so I can better understand?
  9. Hi everyone, Thank you for the early round of feedback. Some updates to share with you all: Mobile display issues: I believe these are fixed now, as I am able to see the username above each post now. The header does look better to me as well, as the rest-of-the-site nav menu has been incorporated into the forums nav menu. I haven't been able to replicate slow load times, but if anyone is encountering these please let me know where you're seeing them and we can take a look. Also, I know the other site features (live blog, predictions) aren't widely used in the off-season but if there is any feedback on how these look either now or in the fall please let us know!
  10. Thank you - this is really helpful! It was definitely intentional to make these changes in the slow period of the site so I can uncover some of the inevitable bugs. I spent a lot of time on the rest of the site outside the forums, but our forums are actually a commercially available software package (invision board) to which we made minimal modifications. Are you noticing the slowness on the whole site or is this specific to the forums? I will go back and revert some of the design updates I made to the forums and see if I can get the display bugs fixed. Does the post above from @TWHSParent answer the leaderboard question? I never really looked at that section so I'm not sure what may still be missing.
  11. Thanks, good catch. It looks like someone keyed in the date wrong but I updated it now.
  12. Unfortunately a lot of the finalized rosters aren't released, so we typically wait to avoid errors in our predictions lists. I did get BOA McAllen added, but everything else (Austin, for example) has a list from May so it likely has a lot of changes.
  13. I'm basically in the matrix
  14. We did try to make a feature of the site that does this... the score archive, but sadly no one has been interested in really keeping it up to date.
  15. Hi everyone! Just a heads up that predictions can now be made for next week's contests!
  16. I apologize the Atlanta super regional never made it, but San Antonio is live!
  17. My bad on the rankings not being updated. I cleared out the scores from 2016, so now what you see should just include BOA Austin scores (and anything thereafter)
  18. In a sense, the directory section of the website is somewhat of a relic of a different era of the website. When I built the website back in 2005, that and the forums were the first thing I created. Sure it was cool to go and see your school in the directory, but are people looking up things besides that? The site has shifted from the forums being super active with a lot user-generated content to a focus on the live blog almost exclusively. It has admittedly gotten harder to "moderate" the directory as well. Back in the day, I created it wiki-style, where any registered user could go in and add schools, make updates, etc. Eventually though, I got sick of merging duplicates (we would have "Clear Creek", "Clear Creek High School", and "Clear Creek H.S." all with separate entries, for example) so we moved to the current method with the "tell us what needs to change" button and a free text field. While this has definitely helped with invalid entries, it makes it a lot harder for the moderator to update anything because you have to cross reference a bunch of user submissions and also have the database open - a lot of work for someone. If there is value in it, we could definitely look at going back to the original update method. More importantly though, there may be a lot of gained from really breaking down the directory into just a combination of data from other places on TxBands.com. Already the contest results section of each school's card is just an overlay of data from "Scores" - could the predictions game feed all it's data into scores? Probably! Any suggestions on how we can make these pieces of the site more sustainable and valuable are always welcome.
  19. Sorry for the delay in response to your question, JTApex! Predictions is designed to support events with up to 14 finalists (i.e. a BOA Super Regional). When the analysis is calculated we take every participating band in the list and look at how people are predicting them. Every time a band appears in 1st place on a prediction list they receive 14 points. Second place gets 13 points. Third place, 12 points, etc. Those points are summed per band and each school is ranked. Probably not super scientific. We're always open to tweaking anything if someone out there has a better suggestion on how to analyze the data.
  20. Thanks - I cleaned up the extra LSP contest (the 3 people who predicted on the deleted event also predicted the one I kept, so nothing was lost). Mansfield event deleted as well. All scores from this past weekend have been entered.
  21. Marching season always creeps up on me! I added all the BOA Texas events for prediction: http://www.txbands.com/predict/ State can't go live until we have area contest winners, and area predictions can't go up until the results from regional contests are finalized, so that will be later. If there are additional, non BOA events that you'd like added, please feel free to post them here, or you can add them yourself at the following link: http://www.txbands.com/predict/public_addevent.php Keep in mind, some events don't lend themselves to the way TxBands predictions work such as events where there are multiple divisions and classes, rather than a standard 1 through 10 ranking.
  22. They keep coming up with new tactics and we have to go in and thwart them. Rinse and repeat.

  25. Yep, I've fixed the error and will post back on how to update your list this afternoon
