Yes, that's what the "2006 BOA AAA Championship" meant. -

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if you had any new information on how the live video feed would work out? Will it be similar to the MFA fannetwork or something different? -

Make sure to do your research before making a comment. They made UIL state finals in 2002 and 2004....for the older members and maybe Danpod; "Taco Tuba" should be familiar. Note: 2002 was prelims only due to inclement weather in Waco, so they finished in the top ten, hence similar to making it into finals. -

Let us not forget that the most innovative, memorable, and unique high school marching band shows have come from a "long time ago" as well as most recently: 1993 Spring; 1998 Lassiter; 1999 PCEP; 2001 Lawrence Central; 2002 Lassiter; 2004 SFA; 2005 Ronald Reagan; 2006 The Woodlands; 2006-2008 LD Bell; 2009 Avon......just to name a few -

I would disagree with you on the "NEVER" part. You are forgetting their The Woodlands' 2006 BOA AAA Championship year where they received the Outstanding Visual Caption at BOA San Antonio, beating out Bell and Marcus in visual performance. -

2009 GNATS!
sax_man 2007 replied to whitewing09's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
The only time this ever happened at nationals was 2003 at the end of Semifinals when Westfield claimed 1st, Ronald Reagan 2nd, & LD Bell 3rd. It would be splendid to see Bell, Marcus, and The Woodlands complete this 3 way lead for GN Finals! -

Lassiter 2002 "Liturgical Sketches" beats The Quest by far in musical composition. The concert french horn feature at the end of the closer is unforgetable! Second, the links to the recaps for prelims and finals are on the previous page -

For the TX Bands Crew that were at finals and anyone else who was there, with regard to SFA's performance, did you all feel a tear/phasing issue between the front ensemble and battery at the beginning of the closer? Some of us who were watching on the network weren't sure if that was the issue or if there were technical issues? If so, could that have hurt their overall music score? -

Yes, GE accounts for 60 of the 100 points (20 for Music GE 1, 20 for Music GE 2, & 20 for Visual GE), while visual (20 pts) & music (20 pts) account for a combined 40 of the 100 points. -

Correction, 4 of the top 6 from SA will be going to GN. Richland has elected to not go due to their participation at the Pasadena Rose Parade. *Note: what musicforall shows for the GN list is not up to date -

Does anyone know who judged prelims? I know that Carl Bly did Music Individual & John Howell did Visual Individual. It would be interesting to know that we can see who's judging finals! -

Speculatively speaking, it appears that the top 7 bands from prelims could be (in random order): Woodlands, SFA, Marcus, LD Bell, Cedar Park, Richland, James Bowie/Hebron. -

I agree!!! We are going to have a bloodbath between the top "Houston" bands (TWHS & SFA) as well as the top DFW bands (Marcus & Bell) in Finals tonight.....so exciting -

You're only considering the musical effect. Even though the sound and tone of the music quality is crisp, full & loud, that still does not account for the visual effect that the band & guard exhibits to the audience/judges! If they don't execute perfectly their visual performance, you can through "outstanding GE" out the window. With that said...LD Bell is the favored to win GE. -

Go to "mfa.thefannetwork.org" and purchase the live webcast for San Antonio. If you missed the Friday Prelim performances, you will have to wait till Tuesday/Wednesday, but you will have complete access to Saturday all day as well as Finals!!! Hope all goes well -

Are you talking about Bell's performance time? If so, then it's not random. Past regional championship winners, with the exception of GN, are allowed to perform in the last time slot for preliminary performance. Hence, since LD Bell won in SA 2008, then they are given the option to perform last. Some bands don't have to elect this option, just as seen in the case of Marcus performing at 2:45 rather than 4:15, since they were the previous champion at Arlington. -
