  1. I wouldn't be too sure about Marshall. They usually don't seem like a threat early on in the season but they tend to peak right around Area, barely missing finals 2 years back. As for Warren, I've only seen their show from a backfield view so I don't really know what everything looks like, but they seem like pretty strong competition. Honestly, with all of these great bands at this contest, anything can happen. Good luck to you guys too! Only 2 more days!
  2. Area G is a bloodbath this year. Locks are definitely Harlingen, Donna, Lopez, Hanna and O'Connor. From then on it's a big ole' mess. Any of these bands could make the cut United Alexander San Benito Taft Marshall Brandeis Warren Palmview PSJA North Sharyland Good luck to all the other bands who will be there!

  7. Based on 2010's Area G results, the bands most likely to advance are Harlingen, Hanna, Lopez, Donna and O' Connor. Taft also has a strong chance of making it, as does Laredo Alexander. Marshall might be able to sneak into finals this year, having just finished outside of them in 2010. La Joya, Sharyland and PSJA North will most likely be fighting for a spot in finals again, as will Laredo United and McAllen. Some of the up and coming bands in the SA area are Warren, Brandeis and Clark. Can't wait to see how everything goes down in Laredo.
  8. Thanks for being so welcoming, everybody. I've been posting regularly on the MFA and TxBands forums just to kill some time during these mellow days of concert season. I'm glad to know that people are willing to listen. Being a freshman in band has been a very rewarding experience so far. I'm excited for everything that's waiting for me in the future (STATE 2012!).
  9. Hey everybody. I'm a baritone player for my high school marching band. I hope all of you forum veterans don't mind a newbie like me posting I've been doing some research around the TxBands and Music for All forums and I'm wondering why the BOA La Joya regional was cancelled a couple of years back. Band programs in the Rio Grande Valley area, I believe, are often not given the attention they deserve due to not being able to afford or travel to the regionals in Conroe and Arlington and the Super Regional in SA. Hosting a regional in South Texas would let some of the Valley bands experience what it's like to perform on the BOA stage and experience retreat for the first time. What are your thoughts?
  10. Winston Churchill has historically been one of the strongest drumlines in the San Antonio area.
  11. Amen to that! (No pun intended TW) Rock the house in Indy, Texas!
