  1. Of the guards you've seen so far, which have caught your eye? I have to say MSU, Black Gold and of course Code Black.... I just love the music and flow of MSU's show. They made everything look effortless. Black Gold, I loved the music and the work. Especially the sabre line layering with body. And all the songs relating to sunshine, such as the "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone" song. I saw them 2 weeks ago so a lot of the details are slipping my mind. Code black my jaw just dropped at how clean nearly all of their weapon tosses were... just amazing. And the flag work at the end, spotless. There was also one scholastic A guard that I remember really liking in finals in Austin but I can't remember for the life of me who they were and the music they did is leaving me too. Maybe I'll see it again sometime and it'll remind me. It might have been Americas... but for some reason it doesn't sound right.
  2. haha, For the people that responded earlier on in the post... guard is spelled g-u-a-r-d, not g-a-u-r-d Just like if you were to guard somebody, same spelling Just a pet peeve of mine Now you know so yup... I think as long as the guard uniform flatters the guard, that's all that matters. And if that means that the guard is buff/skinny skinny and can pull off spandex unitards/ 2 pieces then so be it... it highlights how strong the guard is. But if the guard doesn't have all naturally thin people on it, then the uniform should be less form fitting.
  3. it's my senior year too... it's just guard rarely gets any recognition in marching season. well recognition specifically to us. so it's a long 5 or 6 month haul or so with maybe one or two contests that give out an award for the guard only. i was said about it being my last season at the beginning... but as long as i give it my all every performance, i don't get depressed about it anymore. i don't want to regret a performance i'm just excited to see what all the guards are planning for this winter
  4. Wow, this contest does start early, geez. So glad our band doesn't have to go on early in the morning. We definitely never seem to be a morning type of band. Then again what high school kids are morning people? I really can't wait till this contest since a lot of the major bands aren't there because of BOA SA. It'll give a competitive atmostphere to some of those bands that aren't huge national competitors. It's a perfect combonation of good bands and bands that are decent but don't have much reputation behind them.
  5. Who's pumped up for winter guard season? I love marching season, but when it gets down to the last few weeks, I just crave for winter guard to start.
  6. And according to the full recap, Oak Ridge got the auxiliary award, it just wasn't announced.
