  1. Congrats on your win at Capital City!
  2. Can anyone confirm how big Wakeland's band is? Seems to me they're pretty huge. Pflugerville seems pretty big to me also. The point is, small band, medium band, big band, it doesn't matter. Play your horn, march your dot, and you'll be rewarded for it.
  3. BrazosPORT is attending, not BrazosWOOD.
  4. ARGH!! I'll get on that typo. Thanks!! Btw... Akins (TX) Boiling Springs (SC) Brazoswood (TX) Clear Falls (TX) Del Valle (TX) Hanks (TX) Highland Park (TX) Lake Highlands (TX) Lake Orion (MI) Lorena (TX) James Martin (TX) McNeil (TX) Pearland (TX) Robert E Lee (TX) Rowlett (TX) Russell County (KY) Saratoga (CA) Seminole (FL) Westwood (TX)
  5. For those interested, I updated my website to show the titles and pieces used in the 2011 MB shows I wrote. No, there are no recordings until after the season. And no, I don't list who's playing what. :-) http://www.danielmontoyajr.com/music-for-t...ield?category=5
  6. Actually, that is incorrect. However, more than likely Round Rock, or any schools that rehearsed last week for that matter, are well within the rules of UIL. Taken from the UIL CC&R:
  7. You are allowed to practice before August 1. You cannot learn DRILL until August 1. The rule does not apply to learning music, though.
  8. How can you do a show called "The Way" and not play Fastball?!?!?! http://youtu.be/b0wfu3tOrtQ
  9. And I agree about Spring/Westfield in the 90's. Man... some challenging drill and music.
  10. Just curious, not trying to start a fight... but three different panels saw LD Bell at GN's and not one of them (collectively) placed them first. What "different" panel would you think would have them in first?
  11. Wow... looks like John Wooten really didn't like Martin HS. Pretty consensus firsts for them but he dropped them down. But congrats to all nonetheless!
  12. I just wanted to clarify that what they are forming is NOT Arlington Cemetery. The cemetery in Arlington, VA has different tombstones than those that are on the field. What I think Bell is forming is the Normandy Cemetery. Nitpicky, I know...
  13. Nope. Only because I'm not sure that it's irony.
  14. Conceived? Try starting in December! Constructed? Yes, the spring. Fun fact... I was already designing William Mason's 2010 production, "Underworld" in the spring of 2008. Yes, that means I was working on their 2009 marching show while "figuring out" what would end up being their 2010 show. And yes, since THIS spring, I've been working on what might become their 2011 show.
  15. So which s/n would you like me to reply to, since you're both the same person...
  16. Oh crap! I must've left the "woodblock/metronome" part in too long!!!! ZOMG!!!1111!!!oneone!
  17. Oh ok cool! I'll have to look for that on a better video. There is more than just Lady Gaga in there, btw!
  18. Whaaa? Explain please!! ps - my musical cleverness is lost on you... ;-p
  19. Is sarcasm not taught in the public schools any more?
  20. 1. It is fair to include Cedar Ridge, as they have a full functioning marching band that performs AND will compete. And you did say there were only 4 bands in R.R. 2. http://www.musicforall.org/what-we-do/marc...cation-handbook Page 36.
  21. I think Cedar Ridge might beg to differ... Westwood Stony Point McNeil Round Rock Cedar Ridge
  22. Music Performance Individual takes into account Woodwinds (75), Brass (75), and Percussion (50). Those 200 points then equal the Music Individual score. When anyone other than the directors see the recaps, all they see is the final score. The public is not privy to the breakdown as it pertains to the individual sections.
  23. I think 3 of the 5 bands in Round Rock are boring, uninspired, and lifeless. I'll leave you to guess which ones...
