Forgive me, but who are these people you name? Are they drill writers? Colorguard writers? I've never heard of them, so I figure they must be new or write for smaller, less-talented, more obscure programs.

It was my understanding that Grand Nationals or BOA-SA weren't on their calendar for 2008. TWHS did attend GN's in 2009. Balash/Sanchez/Valdez... confirm?

We all thought the same thing in 2002 at BOA-San Antonio...

1. When have California bands come to BOA-SA in the past? 2. Did they make finals? 3. Was it a Super-Regional? 4. Was it a 5a state year? Just curious...

Bowie was playing music from Romeo & Juliet and Symphony #5, mvt. 2. P-ville played Aurora Awakes by Mackey and Equus by Whitacre.

This "refusal to give any details" (the title is not a detail?), reminds me of The Simpsons' episode entitled: Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming. By the way, I'm aware of the irony of appearing on TV in order to decry it. So don't bother pointing that out.

Now, now Dan... you know better than to not trust high school kids when it comes to BOA, UIL, WGI, DCI rules! If he/she says it's so, it must be so!! I kind of agree with you. Good show, played very well. But didn't like the arrangement of Mahler 2 in there. And yes, i realize the irony of me saying that.

I can assure you that the solo that was played was NOTHING like what I wrote! He took my basic skeleton and made it completely his own. Just wanted to give the man his props!

Contrary to popular belief, Carmina Burana is NOT public domain. Much like Puccini, the rights of Orff's music fell to his estate. His estate has controlled his music since his death. There was a time when they allowed Synchronization and Licensing Rights (permission to arrange) but now, they deny all requests and point to the ONE approved, "official", arrangement of the the work. If I remember correctly, it is distributed by Hal Leonard. But I could be wrong.

Hello to all! I am in the process of updating my performance database. Because all my wind band music is self published, I am pretty on top of who plays what, and when. However, since my percussion ensemble music is published by Drop 6, Media, I have NO idea who plays what; unless someone contacts me or it's at a big conference.
