  1. All the recordings on his site are synthesized versions. If I remember correctly, he sequences using a KORG. From there, he sends it to his orchestrator, Carol Chambers.
  2. Thanks! I am glad the band has done so well this year! Congrats to everyone on their competition on Saturday.
  3. From the UIL CCR: (6) Additional Bands. In addition any band that receives a ranking of three or higher from two music judges and one marching judge shall also advance to state
  4. Since the forum is in an upgrading mood, I would like to suggest another change. I know in other forums, once the total topics reach 15 (or any given number set by the admin) a new page is created. I am not sure what the limit is set on this board, but I see a topic that has 43 posts, but only 2 pages. Perhaps only my laptop slows down trying to load lengthy topics with the excessive signatures used by some, but maybe lower the number to 10-15? Just a thought. Thanks!
  5. Though I may be a bit biased when it comes to the "controversy"... HERE, HERE!!

  10. Speaking of loudest crowd responses ever... Madison Scouts 1995: A Drum Corps Fans Dream ....the crowd is practically on their feet and cheering the last 2 minutes of the show!!!! Arguably the most entertaining drum corps show of all time! And also my favorite.
  11. I wrote a 16th note timing exercise for the front-ensemble last year. I think it's pretty groovy, and I want to get it out there for other students and teachers to enjoy. Here is the link to download the mp3, score, and parts: SWEET TEA Briefly, it's based off of Imogen Heap's "The Moment I Said It." If you're interested in the full "back story" and seeing/hearing videos of live performances, read the post on my blog: Sweet Tea BLOG If you do decide to download it, let me know! Thanks for your time and I hope you enjoy it!!
  12. John Debney
  13. You can hear the Brass Ensemble arrangement of Lux Aurumque here: BCM Forums you have to register as a member in order to download. As for the choral version, there are two great recordings out: BYU and Polyphony
  14. Hide and Seek was basically like that. I didn't want to leave with a bad feeling so I picked up my harmonizer and played my keyboard and recorded it on my Mini-Disc recorder. From the moment I put fingers to keys, and voice to harmonizer, the song just appeared. 4
  15. QUOTE (rsb3 @ Nov 5 2006, 12:58 AM) Ok, someone please answer this question for me: Is Ronald Reagan going to Grand Nats? I just went to the BOA site and looked under the "enrolled bands" link, only to find Ronald Reagan NOWHERE! Am I just missing something? At first I thought I just missed it, but I honestly can't find it on their performance schedule for the day... Ronald Reagan is NOT going to Grand Nationals this year.

  17. QUOTE (t3hZm4n @ Oct 22 2006, 01:44 PM) I agree wholeheartedly with the big chord thing (if you're gonna have a "chain reaction," doesn't it usually end with a BOOM?), but our directors just seem to have a different vision than we do... Ah well, maybe I can persuade them before next saturday... Can't a "Chain Reaction" end with an implosion too....
  18. What classification would Hendrickson have fit in? Also, are the sheets different from class to class?
  19. Here is a link to the article, from The New York Times, entitled: The Juilliard Effect: Ten Years Later Very good reading and gives "real life" info and stories about those looking for a career in performance. Good luck in you decision! I decided to devote my life to music, and though it started off rough, things have become so much better! Preserverance is the key!!!
  20. Great points, Andrew. The only thing I would amend to that, would be the inclusion of John Corigliano. I feel he meets all the points you have listed. While I would be hard pressed to choose either of the John's, I think those two will be remembered as the great composers of OUR time.
  21. If you're a fan of Eric, be on the lookout for a CD release of his opera electronica, PARADISE LOST. I had the pleasure of seeing the latest musical revision in Chicago this past February, and it is going splendidly! For more info on Eric and/or Paradise Lost, go to Eric Whitacre

  23. QUOTE (christus_spohn @ Apr 29 2006, 10:00 PM) McNeil's is going to based on Risigni's overtures, and features William Tell Overture and Barber of Seville. It's gonna be tough but we just got the midi file of the completed music and it sounds amazing. Our drill is being written by the guy who writes the drill for the Madison Scouts. AWESOME!!! We started using him before he got that gig, so he still does stuff for us. Talk about go timing. Anyways, post your shows. Glad you like the music . It also features Grieg's "Morning."
