  1. 1) All of Haltom's people? lol It's just me. *waves* 2) Attacking? lol I simply wondered why just Haltom. My question was valid. 3) I did not think they were "attacking" them. lol Again, was just wondering why it was ONLY Haltom. *shrugs* No biggie.
  2. Amen to this! Can't wait for Saturday! Everyone's hype is welcome here! Football gets so much attention during this time of year. Let's raise the roof for our Texas marching bands!!!
  3. Thanks for completely missing my point in my first response to bandit. I simply found their stance of ONLY taking issue with Haltom's praise... interesting. It's puzzling to me, because part of the fun of this site is getting excited about whatever program you enjoy most. My question to them was...why ONLY Haltom? Do I expect them to hype Haltom? Nah. But seriously, why make the effort to downgrade, yes, that's what I said, a program simply because they think Haltom's fans are overhyping them, whilst everyone else is being real? It's curious to me. That's all. I find people's excitement on here for the bands they love refreshing, even if *gasp* it's not being realistic. Who cares? Let people have fun and get excited. Let people put Haltom first or Bell first or Richland first, if they want. The only thing that matters in the end is what the judges decide and in an area packed to the brim with talent, it's anyone's game until 10pm on Saturday. Let's try building up rather than tearing down. It's a lot more fun!
  4. Thank you for taking the time to make commentaries on the bands.
  5. Twisting? lol My dude, you basically said you can't buy into Haltom's program being good because you feel the hype isn't "real." You made a point to grumble about Haltom. Just Haltom and no other band. Then you don't want anyone to @ you. I'm just saying...people get excited about the programs they're involved with. We all do it. Opinions are just that...opinions. If you find one set "suspect," then all should be suspect. Humans are biased by nature. Also, I simply said I find your line of thinking... interesting. It's literally all good with me. I promise I will sit in my corner and eat my popcorn from now on and remain silent.
  6. I did not stutter. I chose my words carefully, so calm down. My issue is that many bands are "hyped" on here. That's supposed to be part of the fun of it? We get excited about what each program is doing. Haltom has had a rough season, yes, but that only makes room for improvement. So if someone wants to say Richland is the best in their opinion. Go for it! The world is full of reality. Watch the news for it. I come here to read about people's excitement for their programs, not someone grumbling because they don't like someone else's enthusiasm. I've waited YEARS to have other people as excited about Haltom as I am. It doesn't mean they are blindly loving them for Pete's sake. Chill.
  7. I find this thought process interesting. Do you question the hype for other bands or is it just Haltom? Everyone gets excited about the programs they have a connection to. I don't happen to have any kids in the band right now, so my inclination is to view the band my kids used to be in with more perspective and thought over "blind love." I've also perused this board for years and Haltom was often forgotten or downgraded, even when they made state in 2010, after a major change in their directors (their director left to go to Bell). So now they have more fans on here, but our opinions are "suspect." I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Despite the gain of fans, Haltom is still downgraded by others. Shame. Those are some really talented kids who just happen to live in a huge footprint where middle and lower class mix. They work hard, just like the other bands do. But by all means, downgrade them. Don't "believe the hype." That's your prerogative. I'm going to be over here, excited for them and ALL of the bands in Area B, because I believe in the band kids and listen. You others who are connected to other programs, keep on cheering them on! I will never grumble about the "hype."
  8. Argh. I'm not the best on my phone with this. lol I was going to say, my vote is: 1) Haltom 2) Bell 3) Coppell 4) Trinity 5) Richland 6) Carroll So not too different. Thought the bands did great tonight, esp considering all the rain interruptions. I'd also say that Haltom's practice at the dome last night really helped them along. So glad they got to do that.
  9. I know AT&T stadium has a bad rep for sound, but Haltom sounds fantastic here. This is such an awesome thing! Not for nothing but these kids are getting some dome experience. Excited for them!! Plus, I got to walk around the end zone. I think I may have spent more time in the end zone than the Cowboys have this season. Oooo!
  10. What a frustrating thing that video was to watch! lol They were even saying, "We're gonna let them play. Let's turn up the volume so people can hear them. Open that window." blah blah and all I kept thinking was...how about you just STOP TALKING! Then, they stopped talking and were rattling around with a chip bag or something. Just when you think they're going to shush, they start chattering again. blarg This is why I prefer going to contests. heh
  11. My weather app says 90% chance of rain and a high of 47 degrees on Tuesday. If the forecast stays the same, I could completely understand them rescheduling Region 31. The only question would be...reschedule to when? ugh I feel so bad for these band students and staff. It's been an even rainier season than ever.
  12. I'm afraid there won't be finals. The forecast is not kind for Saturday. Such a bummer! ugh Also, as of right now, Region 31 on Oct 16 has a 50% chance of rain and a high of 53. blarg I'm always thankful for rain but we've had SO much and it's really put a grind on the season.
  13. Wondering what's going to happen with this one. We're quickly approaching Saturday and according to The Weather Channel, there's 100% chance of rain. It starts at 1am and becomes more likely by 7am and forward. When my kids were in Haltom band, Haltom performed once at the BISD festival in each child's four years there (my kids overlapped one year and they didn't perform that year). Seems it's going to be another one where it's rained out from the start - and definitely can't imagine there will be finals. It's been a super rainy season this year. I SO feel for the bands not being able to perform. Such a bummer.
  14. Considering the fairly consistent rain that I know has hampered many bands from being able to perform in front of a crowd at football games, I thought the finals at HEB were impeccable. I'm SO glad there were no rain delays for this contest. The finals were so good, I was bowled over. Every band performed well, imo. I thought Prosper was better than 3rd. I loved Wakeland. I'm a retired band parent, so it was a new experience for me to watch a contest without the stress of having a child performing. lol I do agree with others that Marcus was not as "big" as usual. I remember when Haltom had a MAJOR leadership shift, literally in the middle of their summer practice program. It was devastating to the kids, so my heart goes to Marcus. Haltom has since built themselves back up and their new leadership has a lot to do with it. I wish the same for Marcus. Haltom's show was a bit messy at the end, but their sound and the difficulty of music is there. I know with some polish, they will do quite well. They are headed to Broken Arrow this Saturday, as returning Grand Champs. No doubt they will be working diligently. Honestly, I felt like I underpaid for the amount of entertainment quality I enjoyed for three glorious hours on a Saturday night. Congrats to Keller for a phenomenal performance and to all the bands who participated. You blew me away!
  15. So the rain chances have dropped to 20% and in the evening. The high is low 80s! Can't wait. This is going to be a fantastic contest!
  16. As of right now, there's a 50% chance of rain in the afternoon to evening. I'm never one to not want rain, since we need it so badly, but there's been a really wet season so far. Bands in this area haven't been able to perform at games consistently. It seems to rain on the weekends. (I remember a few years back when it was like this). I hope all bands are able to perform in prelims and dare I hope for a finals, too?
  17. Just FYI, Richland is 6A again. They were recently put into 6A football district with Abilene, Trinity, Haltom, LD Bell, San Angelo Central, and Weatherford. Might change some predictions. Ofc, I feel like if Haltom rides last season, they'll have a great shot at State.
  18. Same. I'll need to shake a few more cobwebs loose to comprehend that....lol
  19. Yes, indeed they did! They are short-changed quite often but hopefully after being crowned Grand Champions in two contests and medaling in an extremely difficult BOA contest, they'll gain more respect across the board. I'm very impressed with what they've done, not just during the years my kids were involved but now that my kids are done - they continue to grow and improve (and all w/ keeping their band fees super cheap!!!) May the continue with their success for years to come! Proud of you, Pride of Haltom!!!
  20. It was a really good day for BISD bands! Congrats Richland and Birdville!!! Wow! So cool!!
  21. Way to go, Haltom!!! *tears of joy*
  22. lol I wanted cooler temps, but 37 degrees at 7a is teeth-rattlin'! Best wishes to all bands performing at this contest!!
  23. All of this. My HS band was 125 strong and I still have the fondest memories of the shows we performed - and definitely remember feeling we were THE BEST. Go, go, go! Cheers everyone!!!
  24. I will be working concessions for Haltom at this contest in the early morning and half of the afternoon - so if you are there, come and say, "hi!" Looks like a coffee and hot chocolate kinda day. hehe *shivers*
