  2. i used to drum with Innovative Percussion Lalo Davila's. They were pretty good.
  3. I don't have the rankings of the bands, but these are the ones who made it into finals, in performance order: Bowie Reagan Marcus Coppell Langham Creek Berkner L. D. Bell Duncanville Churchill Akins congratulations to all the bands that participated, it was a really great competition, all of them sounded really awesome. edit: Prelims Results
  4. i saw Steele at region. they were pretty good for their first year. one of the better 4A's out there. I loved the show; the drill went really great with the music. it was fun to watch. what do you guys think about New Braunfels? we lost our "head" director for this year, so none of us thought we were going to be that great, but i guess we are ok.
  5. in Region 12, 4A, New Braunfels got their 15th consecutive 1st division. Canyon Highschool also got a 1st division, and so did Steele highschool. i'm not sure about anyone else. but it's just 4A....
  6. i can scream up to an F consistantly, but above that is more of a squeek. i'm working on my upper range so i can scream a double G at the end of our show this year.
  7. our show had a "slow" part (october), so to speak. We played it at 150bpm, so it wasn't that slow, but it was good.
  8. i ordered mine a few days after the state contest and they said 8 - 10 weeks. it should be coming pretty soon, though.
  9. I just uploaded the New Braunfels 2004 TMEA Honor Band Music. Procession of the Nobles Jai ete au bal O Magnum Mysterium go check them out!
  10. A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D: 69-60 F: anything below that that's how it's like at my school.
  11. Jai ete au bal O Magnum Mysterium we played those two songs for honor band and got 3rd. i have the cd of it..... i wonder if i can upload them?????
  12. what do i open first? the "fl_451_full.reg" or the "FLStudio451_install.exe" i'm in the process of downloading the three part Edirol thing right now.
  13. i think i saw one on ebay one time, if that helps.
  14. we don't have a winter parade in my town atleast i don't think we do. we haven't marched in one. i like the idea though, but by winter marching season is pretty much over already.
  15. you could probably buy the Arban Book at your local Sheet Music store. if they don't have it, they can probably order it for you, but that might cost extra.
  16. our directors are great! Beth Bronk - she is such a sweet lady, but if you make her made... watch out! Randy Leifeste (known as "coach") - we all joke and call him old. he's very sarcastic. Ed Gonzales (known as "G". also the colorgaurd instructor) - it's hard to tell whether or not he is joking or being serious. i don't think he likes me much.... they make band awesome!
  17. we have 3 cuts of our district music, and each cut is a chair test. I have been first each time. but other than that, i don't remember having many chair tests last year. if we have a heard spot in our concert music, our director might have us pass it off and might make it a chair test, but other than that, not much.
  18. i did Concert Etude by Goedicke on trumpet last year. It is probably the funnest trumpet solo ever in the history of music. i recomend it to any trumpet player that can double tongue pretty well. i was thinking about not doing a solo this year, but i think i have decided on Song of the Pines. I'll probably be in a trumpet trio. maybe Buglers Holiday??
  19. i made 3rd chair and i'm going to area! which is better then i thought i would do. i was at canyon highschool in newbraunfels. how did everyone else do??
  20. you could try alternating the tu's and ku's do like this, 4 eigth notes and a quater note, on any note, starting at about 90bpm and gradually increasing. tu-tu-tu-tu--tu ku-ku-ku-ku--ku ku-tu-ku-tu--ku tu-ku-tu-ku--tu then you can add it to scale patterns. you could also try using different sounds. du-gu, da-ga, whatever. or my band director says to make a sort of "que" sound on the ku/gu part. whatever you try, make sure you use plenty of AIR. they don't need to be short, unless marked other wise. play them long and connected. Keep your tongue close to the front and your mouth open, but not too open. then you can play Concert Etude or Carnival of Venice! two of my favorite pieces. i have an excersize on double tonguing, but i lent it to my friend last year... maybe i can get it back from him and scan it and send it to you.... Or you could buy and Arban Book. its considered the "Trumpet Bible" and i'm pretty sure thats were my old private lesson teacher copied it from.
  21. our trumpet line is very young. two seniors in all, out of about 25, and only one is 1st part. first part is 1 senior, 3 juniors, and 3 sophomores. 2nd part is 1 senior, 3 juniors, 5 soph, and 3 freshmen (6 didn't march). Its pretty balanced though. I guess i would give it a 6. last year though, we had the second best trumpet in the state, and other good ones. but the year before that, was amazing. 4 sr trumpets along with, the 2nd best trumpet in the state, and another really good trumpet player on first part. That was definitly the best trumpet section our band has ever had. too bad they weren't featured at all for being so good! which is odd, because our head band director plays trumpet! yhi next year looks promising though.....
  22. well, if that's the case, than he can feel free to email me......
  23. Does anyone happen to know if there are any other free music writting software that i can download, or is finale monopolizing the whole free music notation industry?
