  1. I’m pretty sure that’s outdated. A finals draw order is already posted to the uil website. I posted the link above.
  2. Area B finals were definitely a random draw. You can tell based on the performance order Celina placed first and played first. Anna placed second and played next to last.
  3. I’m pretty sure it’s a random draw. There’s actually already a document posted showing the draw order on the uil website. Am I misunderstanding something? https://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/4A_Finals_Draw.pdf
  4. Agreed. It was tight in finals but was a tiny bit more spread out in prelims. It probably has something to do with Celina going first. I honestly thought Panther creek was going to jump Anna to second place in finals. They had a great run.
  5. I mostly agree. I think North Lamar will redeem itself this year and get one of those first five spots to represent Area C. I don't think Sulphur Springs will make the finals cut this year.
  6. Congrats to Celina, Anna, Panther Creek, and Canton on their advancement to state! Panther Creek is a new Frisco HS celebrating their first appearance at state. The other three bands are the gold, silver, and bronze champions from last year! I made it to finals and honestly thought Panther Creek was going to edge out Anna. It was an awesome night.
  7. If anyone is at this contest, please post the results.
  8. The rules changed. Every year is a state year now.
  9. Has anyone seen a schedule yet? I know the draw order but I’m curious what time it starts and what time prelims will wrap up.
  10. I’m a longtime follower of the canton band from back when Rob Toups led the program. The canton band of today definitely can be beat. I was honestly surprised they placed third last year. I thought for sure Sulphur Springs was going to snag bronze. I saw China Spring at Melissa and their show was a little rough, but so was everyone else’s show. It would be amazing for Burnet to secure the area championship.
  11. 4A results from today's region 20 contest are posted to uilforms. Looks like this area will only advance four bands. I'm really excited for this contest. It will be a good one!
  12. Oh man. I was counting on Mabank.
  13. Agreed. I think with the addition of Panther Creek this area is just as tight as it was with Argyle and Melissa. Celina, Anna, Panther Creek, and Canton are my predictions for advancement. I think Kaufman, Krum, and Farmersville with definitely make finals.
  14. Last year I believe it was online only.

  16. I think they will make area finals.
  17. A commenter above stated there were additional judges for guard/DM and drums and those scores did not count towards advancement and, I’m assuming, overall rankings and scores.
  18. I had the same thought. I recognize most of the 2a and 3a judges but I dont know most of these guys. Dolkos is the only name I know. He’s retired from Weatherford. I think Ross Bothman is supposed to be Ross Boothman. He’s a former TMEA president.

  20. According the the area website: Bob Vetter, Joe Dolkos, Wade McDonald, Marc Telles, Ross Bothman
  21. Farmersville had an impressive showing at Royse City today. I still think it will be Celina/Anna in 1st or 2nd, followed by Canton. Fourth place is definitely up for grabs. Panther creek might even beat out Canton or could even take the top spot. It will be interesting!
  22. Celina was third for percussion in prelims. Ranchview first (didn’t make finals), followed by SS. I was confused about the prelims sheet as well. It looks like maybe they had a separate percussion and guard judge separate from the other judges based on the scoring sheet someone posted above. Going off the actual prelim rankings, Sulphur was first for percussion and Celina was second. Ranchview was WAY down the list.
  23. 2a-4a finals: 1st Celina 2nd Farmersville (an impressive move up for them) 3rd Kaufman 4th Sulphur Springs 5th sunnyvale 6th Mineola (down from 2nd in prelims) 7th Paris best percussion-celina guard - mineola
