I can't be upset at Texas for winning or Tech for losing. The reality is both teams played a GREAT game! What can be upset about is that we (as Tech students/fans) thought that some of the calls made on Tech were extremely unfair to the team. But hey....Tech was winning all the way up until the 4th quarter! Congrats to any UT students and fans out there! Great game! WRECK 'EM TECH!

ugh! I absolutely despise AP tests. Too much pressure not to take a college class. I'm taking..... Calculus English IV Physics B yuck!!

I think 5A State is really going to depend on what happens when they change the Area divisions (for lack of a better word). What I've heard is that a lot of the powerhouse bands are going to be competing against each other at Area rather than State. We'll just have to see what happens. Very cool! I didn't mean to sound so.....limiting I guess with my comment about the range. I do know some people that are able to play higher but the majority that I've seen have only been able to get out a G. But of course tone quality on that note is a COMPLETELY different thing.

We had 3 of our members make state (one of the was a freshman!!) and a lot of them were only 1 chair away. I'd hate to be only one chair away. For me, that'd be the ultimate disappointment.

How about some predictions for winter guard competions??

Really? Did it sound good? I can only assume that since it's the Dallas symphony that it had to have a decent tone quality for the player to use it.

I don't think a show HAS to have a "slow movement" or "ballad" or whatever you want to call it, but I agree when people say it adds so much more to the show. When I think about all the truly amazing shows I've seen I remember the "moments" from the impacts in the ballad. Those are the emotional moments that are portrayed through the music that gives the audience goosebumps. And as a marcher it's really nice to have time to slow down your feet and breathing for a little while.

I think minor changes are normal, especially if there are errors in the drill books to begin with but I've never seen major drill changes before a contest. I know we've had major changes before for random reasons but I don't think we've ever done that before a contest.

I always seem to do really well at working the music up to where I want it to be but when it comes time for auditions it's not there. Call it nerves or pressure or whatever but it just doesn't happen. Therefore....4 years = never made region.

Ohmygoodnessgracious! College! It's a frustrating thing I must say. Right now I've been accepted into Texas Tech and still waiting on the A&M application but I have no idea which school I want to attend. Majoring in medicine or engineering. Oh the frustration.....!!!!!!!!

after reading this, it seems as if a lot of school are playing the same music which will definitely make for some tough competition when it comes time for honor band judging.

I used to be in a band (before I moved back to Texas) that we had 1 marching band and 1 concert band for the whole program and we were a 4A school. It was insane now that I think about it. And when I moved back and started band here I thought it was weird to have more than 1 concert band.

Alright let's put it this way...in the last couple games they've played the Steelers have been the underdogs and yet they beat the Colts and the Broncos by a considerable margin. Just because they haven't been to a Super Bowl in like 10 years doesn't mean anyone can underestimate them. I think they're gonna do great in a couple weeks.

I think that'd be the coolest thing ever! I'm debating engineering and working for NASA or something medical. But I just don't know yet.
