  1. I'm currently in college, and decided to not do marching band for this semester, mostly to get adjusted to college life first. (And also considering the load my major requires). But, there are times where I really do wish I joined marching band, but I know I can still have my musical fix by taking private lessons and participating in other ensembles. Maybe, if I don't lose my chops, I'll try for drum corps over the summer.
  2. I don't even have calluses on the outside of my middle fingers. They're just bumps, or more like another extremity...It's my natural mallet cushion.
  3. +63e^0
  4. I went to the TMEA convention the other day, and I got an autograph from the one and only Mr. Leigh Howard Stevens. That was pretty awesome. Also, at the Malletech booth they were selling miniature rosewood marimba keys as keychains. I'll upload a picture sometime.
  5. It's either TCU or UT Austin for me. Haven't decided.
  6. Oops, I meant University of Texas at Austin. But I'm sure UTA would have a smaller population than UT Austin.
  7. What I heard about Julliad is that it's expensive (duh) and its all about connections. I read it in some article somewhere.
  8. Joining us, from the country of Texas, weighing in at a meager 110 pounds, the Asian sensation, with no need for explanation...Rice cakes!
  9. There are some great things you can get to protect your already blistered hands. Go down to your local Walgreen's or CVS and buy a box of "Toe Bandages" (yes, I said "Toe Bandages") cut one toe bandage in half, and put on your middle finger. I think 3 or 4 pieces come in a package. Ta-da.
  10. not so cool=going back to school after Thanksgiving break
  11. Does tripping over a cord in the pit count?
  12. Haha, me too. It's simple, but gets the job done.
  13. What exactly is TCU band weekend?
  14. I've never heard of that company...do they have a website?
  15. = Ninjas
  16. I could've sworn in Broken Arrow's ballad I heard a part from an old Reagan show (probably 2004?)
  17. I think vibraphone is the most effective keyboard instrument in the pit. You have the most control over sustain, and as far as the clanking, maintenance and the right technique will eliminate that problem.
  18. That sounds exciting, but scary if I were a judge.
  19. If I were in Pit, I would play: 1. Kazoo 2. Triangle 3. Ratchet 4. Slapstick 5. Foghorn 6. Then, I guess...marimba 7. Timpani (seriously)
  20. Who's complaining? Um, you. You should enjoy the company of marimbas.
  21. Innovative Percussion
