I absolutely loved the Wakeland show!! Take Five is one of the greatest jazz pieces ever. I loved how they progressed from learning beginning percussion to advanced percussion throughout the show....simply amazing and original. I loved the Take Five melody on the marimba and vibes, too....sounded great!! Incredibly proud of Richland!!! Great showing out there for our kids....they're only going to get better. Congrats to all of the drumlines....that was a great contest. The skill level on the field yesterday was mind-boggling...it's so hard to believe that these kids are 14-18 years old!!!

Amen to this!! For virtually ever band pit/prop crew, the hours are long and work is sometimes difficult but watching our kids excel, getting a "thank you" or getting the occasional "shoutout" at games from the kids and/or directors is the best part of the job. The amazing part to me is that for every hour we put in, though, the kids are working harder. Band kids are truly the best, hardest working kids in schools....I couldn't be more proud of them. Go Rebels!!

Richland swept the battery section in Silver Standstill Best Snare line Best Tenor Best Bass line Fantastic job by all of the drumlines that competed....many had been at BoA San Antonio, State in San Antonio or BOTH!! It was a really long week and these kids never cease to impress me.
