If I'm correct, the differences between UIL and BOA judging in terms if what they are told to evaluate are quite extensive. I know UIL doesn't have any sort of GE, and I'm pretty sure they take difficulty less into account and it's more just straight up how well you do what you do. Just look at bands like CTJ, who always contends at BOA but just made state finals for the first time (and finished 10th) in 2012, and Coppell, who is a consistent state finalist but just made BOA SA finals for I believe the first time (and finished 12th) last year. On top of that, the fact that the UIL scoring system is simply rankings means we have no real way of knowing how the top bands from different areas will stack up at state until they actually get there.
