Heb drumline contest
Percplayer19 replied to Bandlover4life's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Richland's drop has more to do with the show than their performance. They are playing the band show for 2017 not really made for drumline performance but it is what it is. in the 2017 band show they really are outstanding in their performance but will not relate well to this year drumline contest. -
2017 BOA St. Louis
Percplayer19 replied to bandperson1997's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Birdville schools like Richland, Haltom and Birdville always do well at St. Louis. Richland and Haltom made finals last year and finished 8th and 9th. -
Mansfield Marching Contest 2017
Percplayer19 replied to bandlover1994's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Richland and Haltom should both do well here. Id really like to see the list on who's going for comparison? -
Though I feel Richland has turned a corner toward the upside im not quite ready to have them overtake Cedar Park. They have a great show but they also have a lot of young members that are growing up quickly. By the time UIL comes up I expect them to be peaking at the right time. If they can put this together like last years show I do have them making State and even will place them in the top 10 but as far as medaling they will have to have the best performance they have ever done to have a chance to possibly overtake Cedar Park. They have a culture of a winning performance and believing they will win. Richland is moving in the right direction in building a winning culture again, but I like the direction.

BISD has always had good marching band programs especially Richland and Haltom. Two of my boys went through the Richland programs starting in 2007 and I'm still a BISD volunteer for the Richland Area Band Boosters (RABB). Birdville took a downturn after losing there director but I anticipate they will rebound and be back at it. Richland has a great opportunity to do something at State this year. We have a proud tradition at BISD and wish Haltom and Birdville good luck this year. -
I agree, don't know but understand the reasoning for no BOA events this year but gearing up for state and believe Richland will fair well at state.

2017 Area F Predictions??
Percplayer19 replied to ccfan13's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
After a very promising 2016 performance Richland should do very well for state. Birdville has a rebuilding last year but look for good things this year. -
I am a former band parent but an on going volunteer. I was blessed to have two boys choose to participate in marching band over sports with the oldest starting in 2007 and the youngest in 2010. They attended Richland High School and members of the Richland Rebel band. I am an active member of the Richland Area Band Boosters (RABB) and continue to volunteer as one of the truck drivers that gets our beloved trailer know as Big Blue to all events. I have many great memories for each of my sons during their participation and each served as a drum major in their senior year. They were together for my oldest senior season and the youngest freshman season with both marching in the 2011Rose Parade as part of the Birdville Independent School Districts joined band from our three high schools Richland, Birdville and Haltom with over 500 members marching that year. I love being involved and will start my 11th year this coming August supporting the band and will continue to give my time and money to support what I see as a very vital and worth while program that blessed my children and family. Their are many volunteers that feel as I do in our program that do this because we love to serve. I believe though there our other parents/former parents in other programs that feel the same and just as proud of their efforts but don't seek the limelight nor want to be a distraction from the real reason we do this and that is the kids. Whether my own or all the kids in the current band its their success that is important and anything I can do to support their success is my motivation. Success is not measured in how many trophy's they received nor where they place in a BOA though those are nice. Its more than that because in life we don't always get the trophy or place in top ten.

Richland High School has always been a top notch if not always in the mix of drumlines. They are consistent and can measure up to any drumlines.

2014 BOA San Antonio Recap
Percplayer19 replied to mh1031's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Great job to the Richland High School band finishing 16th! After that disappointing set back last year at SA the program is making its way back to where it belongs.. Top 10 at Denton Regional, Finished 11 at UIL, great showing at Wylie Marching Contest taking first and still up there with the big boys at SA Super this year. Richland is a great program and next year will be exciting. Shout out to Haltom and its great season. Drumline you Rock. -

I admire the program that probably will not raise an eyebrow or be on the radar of the bigger program, but they go out there and perform. Just to make semi-finals would be a thrill for most schools. My hats off to those schools, keep the failh! -

Richland is a great program. The directors and kids are 1st class and though this could be a negative it will not be one. The program has a rich tradition and will go forward. Its on to BOA SA and they will bounce back. In spite of. -

Of all this group I like Richland just because it has a very consistent history of high performance in big time contest in BOA Regionals and Super-Regional events. Birdville is also a good choce to advance. Of the others I have not seen them in the bigger contest so I could not possible rate them. -
Texas Bands at 2014 BOA Grand Nationals
Percplayer19 replied to Hard Core Band Fan's topic in Events on TxBands.com
With BOA SASuper becoming so competitive I feel alot of schools will place their efforts for this event (I predict SA will become an unofficial grand national and schools from up north will come down to measure themselves against TX competition, my honest opinion). With it aslo being a 6A state year many schools wont go to BOA Grand.- 19 replies

Richland was penalized for having to short of a program? Never heard of this, but have heard of other bands having to long of a program.

Thank you for your comments. There will always be the Bells, and Marcus bands in marching, its the other schools like Richland and Flower Mound that Im interested in cheering for and know they work hard to compete Good luck to all Denton bands and marching contest around North Texas.
