  1. I have two Richland favorites. Grand Nationals 2007 my oldest freshman year, placing 9th (LD Bell Grand Champion) first time I had ever attended Grand Nationals. Second was Rose Bowl Parade 2011. Oldest was Senior (Drum Major) youngest was a freshman (In a wheelchair, another story).
  2. Richland is gradually starting to get back to events such as BOA SA, but its been a rebuilding product with great results finishing with last season with a top 10 state finish. They did not expect to have to go back to 6A but there it is and you have to just prepare and perform with what you do best. Richland was in 6A (Old 5A) before and did well in our regional/area events and even in BOA SA, but like other schools the competition has gotten better and had to change direction for the better, even marching smaller (quality vs quantity) which has worked well. Were excited for this season and we will never be considered in the class with the bigger schools but we will surprise some people and honor to be even mentioned occasionally, cause I know there are many schools that will never be mentioned or talked about and that's a shame cause all band kids work hard and deserve some recognition.
  3. I also look forward to Richland's season, they have turned it around the last three seasons and I'm looking forward to the new directors vision to keep the needle moving up. It would be great to go back to back in 5A then 6A
  4. Agree CTJ is the favorite but I was impressed with Roma at the 5A state contest, with the good showing last year and kids believing they can compete with anyone makes a huge difference.
  5. Coppell, Timber Creek and I must add Birdville. Last year was a difficult season for them with a new director coming in late and not really having the time to do what he wanted so I believe they will improve and make a good showing this year. I partial to BISD schools but the district does have excellent programs with Richland, Haltom and Birdville.
  6. I don't drive for a truck for a living, but only got my A-CDL to drive for the band. I have great memories from the trips and contest I have been too and looking forward to this coming year. If you ever see the Richland Band trailer come by say hello.
  7. Bobby, had two boys go through the Richland Band 2011 and 2015. I am still a volunteer for the Richland band I drive the truck that pulls "Big Blue" the band trailer in my 12 year supporting RHS.
  8. 1.Richland 2.Friendswood 3. SFA 4. Clements 5. After these four I have not seen the rest of the performing bands. Richland will surprize people, they are always a strong performer.
  9. I stand corrected, I did see Friendwood at BOASA last year, very nice band.
  10. Looking forward to seeing the bands from Louisiana, dont get to see this states bands.
  11. I agree Richland and Friendswood were just at the cusp of making finals at BOASA. This will be a good measure for the Richland band that is trying to get back to its form after two tough seasons.
  12. First time Richland attends this event but I expect them to make finals. Not sure about the other schools since I have not seen these schools in past events.
