Mavs in 5 byotch! -C

it's been confirmed on the BD forum that's what they are wearing this year. BD had better be amazing this year, to make up for such a crapshot uniform. and that's all I'm going to say. -C

Casella was going to keep the drums level... the center snare suggested tilting them... and so they did. I like tilted much better. ~>conner

liked the new drums. -C

I know what an idiomatic expression is. -C

if, by remaining to be seen, you mean in history... then your statement is flawed. They won in 1996. And, if by remaining to be seen, you mean this year... then of course. It's May. -C

no way. Elements are amazing. Better than Hummers, easily. -C

well... I'd agree that Southwind had one of the best designs in the 13-24 range last year, easy. I also strongly believe that if they had a full brassline (instead of around 54) They would have had a much higher brass score. The drill was executed pretty well, also. Corps such as the Colts and Crossmen (I dont really know about CR... I sort of think SW should have beaten them) were simply better than them. Some of this could have been contributed to relative size of Southwind (they weren't even close to a full corps) and the other corps (Colts, Crossmen and CR all had around full corps.) Not saying size has a lot to do with it... but if you have a larger brassline, it's easier to hide mistakes. The same can't be said abotu drumlines, but SW's drumline was pretty sweet this year. So yes, They were outperformed, and while they had a great design, I dont really think it was of finalist caliber THIS YEAR. Also, a sidenote, This was easily the best design SW has ever seen. The design blatently kept Southwind out of finals in 2000... I do believe there brass, indeed, got 8th in semis. -C

I'm assuming you're refering to Jared's post on dcp... I disagree. The show was designed pretty well, but not like Spirit, or Glassmen, or even Crossmen or Colts. It was a brilliant concept, but I'm not so quick to blame Southwinds never making finals because of performance. I really really loved last year... it's probably the most played on my dvd player out of any other show from last year. This year sounds REALLY good, and I can not wait. The whole dark pants/light pants thing has been used before (Sky Ryders 87,) and I'm anxious to see how it works for them. -C

the Lakers game was glorious... I can not STAND the Lakers. -C

I agree completely. Listen to the awards ceremony for 05... When they were announced 3rd, they got the loudest ovation... even louder than The Cadets. Phantom is rarely bashed... I think where you are coming from is the fact that people think 1989 isn't as good as SCV 89 (The battle over who should have won in 89 is one of the fiercest in DCI history, imo.) -C
-
that's definetely not the reason for the hype. They have an incredible return rate, an amazing staff, and an amazing show. They are the corps with momentum right now, like it or not. -C

Mavs in 7. -C

I dont know about "favorite BAC show yet..." Higdon writes REALLY good orchestra music, and uses primarly strings... I'm not sure how BAC is going to make Blue Cathedral a brass friendly song. So far, sounds good. I just hope they dont kill the pieces. -C

DCI Classic Coutndown Theater Listing!!
CHS King Mello replied to Danpod's topic in Drum Corps Forum
"put them on the map" is a matter of point of view. the show that put them on the map was really 92, when they won div 2. Then making DCI Finals in 95, never to fall out till 02... then they were put back on the map with the most succesful show to date (at the time) 03 Bell-issimo. I think that 03 is extremely overshadowed by the success of 04, but 03 was probably one of the most (if not THE most) definitive shows for Crown. With a lot of corps, falling out of finals can be the kiss of death. fortunately that was not the case for Crown. -C -

word. -C -
I really agree on that. Not only was the drumline huge, it was pretty clean. And the hornline played some ballsy stuff that year. Most def. my all time favorite BAC show, and probably my favorite 03 show. -C
