  1. well... I called a lot of ti right. I was putting faith in PR 89 to beat Star 93 (not one of my favorites.) only REALY surpize is Madison 88 getting so many votes. Definetely not where I had them at. Now, if Madison 95 or 97 doesn't get in next year, I'm punching a baby. -C
  2. 3rd place tops. ~>conner
  3. loved it. -C
  4. it was pretty bad. and the whole time, they were calling the corps bands. it was irritating. ~>conner
  5. in the midst of the blooooo, some people are big enough jerks to throw in a BOOOOOO. I heard this firsthand when I went to a show last year... The family beside me gave a resounde "boo" when the Bluecoats were announced. it made me sick. -C
  6. most of that is encore music, and things like that. -C
  7. I've heard from some people that march there, this season is going to be a fantastic one. I can't wait to see the show in Atlanta. -C
  8. Phantom - In my opinion, I dont think SCV even comes close to Phantom. my opinion. -C
  9. Phantom 96 still pwns Blue Devils 96. dont hate -C
  10. I LOVE the second half of BD 95. Unfortunately, the first half is enough to leave a sour taste in my mouth. -C
  11. exactly. like contra (techincally called contrabass) the actual instrument is a trumpet, though. -C
  12. sopranos is the technical term used by drum corps people... they are the same thing as trumpet, people in corps (specifically the "older" ones) dont like the term "trumpet." likewise with the Contra... it's just a drum corps term for the marching tuba. ~>conner
  13. drum corps brass is consisted solely of bellfront brass. trombones and sousaphones are not bellfront. ~>conner
  14. no uniform here, but... you can't have holes in your pants, or chains visible. Your skirt has to be at your kneeds, and girls shorts aren't even allowed here anymore... they have to where those bermuda short things. no sleeveless shirts, and clothes can not be in an "excsessive state of disrepair." luckily most of that doesn't affect me... some of my pants have holes, but I can pass by with them. -C
  15. the entire product is going to sound much different than ANY corps, including the Bluecoats... I've seen some of the stuff they are playing, and it's quite different to anything I've seen in drum corps. ~>conner
  16. in all fairness, have you seen a europe corps show? it's certainly not bad, but I'm guessing any corps from over here (including ALOT of div 2-3's) could go over there and do what BD did... just not to the same magnitude. Beatrix came over to America for a division 2 tour, and got last place (not to take away from what they accomplish) and Beatrix is the best euro. corps out there. and yes, the announcer thing was clever, but it was the most annoying part of 05, bar none. I LOVE the Blue Devils, but that was dumb. a FULL countdown from 21 (plus a few Yowza's! thrown in there) was not a very good turn in drum corps. ~>conner
  17. well, this is not a shot on the Blue Devils organization, but they went from 2003 (when they won) to 2004 (which is the only year in DCI history I think there should have been a tie for first) to a awful show in 05, where they were complete pushovers... in fact, they were lucky to hold onto 4th. also, Phantom went from 96 winning, to 97 in 4th, to 98 and 99 in 8th. Cavies 95 first, by 97 were 7th. the way I view it, two of the same shows in a row will NOT benifit the Cadets, ecspecially when the shows are so weird. innovative is one thing... foolishness is another. and by the looks of it this show is going to be even MORE weird. I couldn't even keep up with last year! I couldn't tell if last year was supposed to be about traveling, or about God, honestly. I still dont comprehend the show, and I never will. The fact that they can even THINK about putting something even more weird just frightens me. I dont want to have to think during a drum corps show... I just want it to be a simple 2+2 scenario, so that I can enjoy the show rather than having to solve some complicated formula. and btw, I have a name. it's Conner. ~>conner
  18. Drum Corps history at its best. go, it's a ton of fun. and those shows are AMAZING. ~>conner
  19. just my 2 cents... if the Cadets are going for a more "original" look, why are they just re-hashing the show they did last year? They're even using the door again. I mean, I'm really not a Cadet fan... never have been. But I think this show really isn't going to be comparable to last year. I didn't even like the show LAST YEAR, but it was clean and eserved to win (not a 99.15, but a win.) This year, I dont see that happening... at all. -C
  20. no big surpize. I think this was also an undercover annoucnement of the title change to... "The Zone- Part Deux" instead of "Beyond the Looking Glass" bah. -C
  21. it's one of the best baritone lines Phantom has put out in quite a while. -C
  22. yeah, I had to give up some stuff for prom this year to. it bites lol -C
  23. not on the internet... sorry. if you dont, I suggest buying the 2002 DVD/VHS for yourself... My all time favorite year in DCI... all the shows were brilliant. You can buy the top 12 dvd from 2002 for only 69 dollars, and since it's "The March(ing) Madness Sale" everything is 20 percent off... so that's around 55 bucks. -C
  24. and his music is incredibly well interpereted on the field. My high school did a Shostakovich show in 04, and it was very easy to grasp... just like Phantom 96 and 02 are both incredibly fun to watch. ~>conner
  25. Crown 04 is the only amplified singing (not voice) put on the field so far. Southwind 05 was completely unamped... and that includes pit. ... as was old school Cadets -C
