just out of curiosity... did any of you buy the 13-24 corps dvd? In my opinion, ALOT of the shows (Colts, Crossmen, Southwind, Captial, Cascades, plus more) all have great shows, and are in ways more entertaining than the ones that made finals. -C
-
I woulda liked 99 better if they hadn't tied with Vanguard, and gotten 2nd. because we all know SCV should have won 99 ~>conner

Vanguard and Southwind. ~>conner

5A UIL
CHS King Mello replied to Amusicman's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I know tis is completely unrelated to Texas 5A UIL, but I just thought I'd add what Clover is doing for SCBDA Concert Festival... Sleep for warm up We're playing La Fiesta Mexicana for the judged piece/pieces... 26 minute masterworks piece... only band in SC doing grade 6 masterworks this year. it's a crazy song. -C -
I have the dvd for 85... I'll see if I can get my friend to rip it onto the computer. -C

I dont like amplification-- but it doesn't sound terrible. I'm not going to get a hot dog during the Cadets with I go to the regional in Atlanta. I still dont like amp'd voice, though. -C

I agree... 2000 was a good year for the top 5... I'd even say top 7. The reason it's not one of my favorites is because the corps outside of the top 7 (with the exception of a few) weren't as good as other years, imo. -C

odd. ~>conner
-
self explanatory... what is your alltime favorite year in drum corps? Mine are 2002, and 1993... can't pick between the two. ~>conner
-
yes, 85. They went into a tunnel, and came out with entirely different pants. Next to Suncoast 85, my favorite show in 85. Amazing. ~>conner

according to the rules of biology, it's going to HAVE to stop sooner or later. Earth will have reached it's maximum carrying capacity, and somehow, we just wont get bigger. I dont know when that will be, but the rate of growth isn't going to remain. according to that graph, around 2050, it's going to begin to level out, at around 9 billion. That's crazy. -C

well, if you have a faster internet provider, you can go to google video and look up SCV... they have several shows from SCV on there. As well as other corps... just type in dci. edit* looks like google video isn't working... just links directly back to google search engine. I hope it isn't permanent. -C

yeah. me to. -C

that's true, but there are many people that are just as qualified, if not more qualified than the judges at DCI. I honestly, do not know how Madison won in 88. To me, along with ALOT of other people, that SCV was the superior corps. 89 was a bit tougher to call, IMO, but I still think (as well as alot of other people) think that SCV was NOT the superior corps in 89. ::shrugs:: -C

me and you are obviously going to differ in opinion... you've made it quite clear you dont agree with my opinions in every thread I've posted in. So I'd really appreciate if you would quit attempting to make me look stupid by posting obvious facts such as: the judges put Madison ahead in 88, and SCV ahead in 89. I KNOW THAT. It is MY opinion that the judges got neither year right. In my opinion,, SCV should have won in 88, and Phantom in 89. End of story. And if you tell me you've agreed with every move the judges have ever made, I'd call you a liar, and laugh. -C

88 SCV was the best corps there. 89, Regiment was the best corps there. -C
-
1988 had more emotion, and should have won. what kills me is, they didn't win in 88 when they should have, and in 89, they did win when they shouldn't have... oh well. -C
-
for the record, IMO 1988 SCV is much better than 1989 SCV. but niether are my favorite... my favorite is Copeland... great show. two others, are 91 (Saigon) and 2000 (Age of Reverence) all are great. -C
-
you left out 98... which is my favorite BD show. followed by 04, and then by 00. ~>conner

if "Ride" has been used excessively, "October" should have been retired by now. Just because a song is used alot, doesn't mean you have to do something drastic. I love everytime "October" is put on the field (well, most of the time.) If a corps/band thinks they need a particualr song for the show, then okay. NOW on to my point. To say Hazo's music sounds the same, based on two songs you've heard over and over again, isn't fair at all. I really do suggest you go find a recording of Exultate, and listen. -C

well, Madison 95 could have had more votes than anyone else on that countdown, except 88, and still wouldn't have gotten in, due to the one show per corps rule. ::shrugs:: I like both shows. It should be a good night. -C
