I think I just figured that out Guess I will print off the schedule and come up with plan how to clean and run errands while seeing the bands I want to see!

Thanks, I figured. I have alot to do on Saturday and was hoping I could rewind to catch a few bands I might miss!

Has anyone watched the livestream on Flomarching yet this year, and if so do they have the ability to rewind yet (if on my TV)? I know they had it last year and then took it away!

I think I read that there will be a 12th school eventually too, it will actually reside in the West McKinney area.

Not a fun drive! My husband's office is around that area but thankfully he works from home and only has to drive in on rare occasions! We both worked in Plano for the same company until a few years ago, I don't think I could drive that far to work!

How do you get that overhead view? Pretty cool you were able to finish in the dark!

LOL... I live in Plano but work in Frisco, 7.5 miles took me over 30 minutes this morning. Everything is so built up now, too much traffic! Sorry to get off topic... it just floors me that Prosper is expecting so much growth there would be 10 high schools!

I don't know, they could very well be gearing up for 11 (there are 10 now!). I know when I moved here in 1988 (as a young, single 26 year old), we use to go to Addison or Lower Greenville to go out as Plano only had a Bennigens or Chili's, LOL. On occasion, we might drive up Preston Road (single lane highway) and go out to eat lunch somewhere on Main street. The Dallas tollway ended at Plano Parkway I think! I worked at the old EDS campus (Electronic Data Systems), that Ross Perot built and was really the inspiration to bring business to the North Dallas area. Never thought it would ever become so big!

I was looking at the enrollments, and I would be curious what how the enrollment in the Plano schools have gone up/down over the last few years with all of the expansions with Allen and Frisco. The numbers are still large, but the Senior High Schools being only grades 11/12, and the enrollments including the two 9/10 feeder schools, I was trying to figure out if total enrollment is down, or if the band sizes are smaller for other reasons. I know Plano Senior is the largest of the bands at the moment. Plano East is much smaller than when my son was there. Plano West 5654 (Jasper and Shepton are feeder schools) Plano East 5342 (McMillian, Williams, and the Academies are feeder schools) Plano 5197 (Clark and Vines) Does anyone know where I could find previous years numbers?

I can't speak for less qualified judges, I would have no idea about one judge over another. But I do know that the consistency between the judges has always been an issue. I know when Plano East went to State in 2012, the same year they went to BOA finals, one judge had them as high a 9 (I think in music, but don't quote me on that!) and another judge had them as 32! But if you go back and look at the 2012 5A State thread, you can see it was a common theme even back then. Not sure what can be done with the inconsistencies. I do think Texas is probably one of the most competitive states in the number of extremely talented organizations, so I think there will always be issues in what one person believes is the best show over the other. I just know all of these high school programs are deserving of recognition, whether they make finals or not. I see what happened to my high school band since I graduated (many, many years ago) when they lose the support of the education system, and it makes me feel blessed have my kids participate in such wonderful music programs.

Cherish these times in your life and just remember you did your best. The friendships you make in band thru all the experiences, will be with you all your life.

This is interesting. Guess it would keep those judges employed! You also have to think about the availability of the stadiums as well to hold the extra weekend of the Area contest. In some ways, I like the idea because for those bands not competing in BOA, it gives them more of a reason to put out a great show and compete for State, but I would hate to see bands have to choose between this and BOA.

Well obviously my favorite show this year was the Plano Band's Marionette I am partial to the Pre and Post Show's Send in the Clowns, brings back memories! But really the second movement is beautiful. They aren't a BOA band, but still enjoyed their show this year. But of the show's I have seen live, it would be Wakeland's show. That Wylie Band has a good show too. I haven't really seen much of anyone else's! I have to go get a month's subscription to FloMarching so I can watch BOA SA.

Just saw Wakeland and the Rocketship today, very cool!

I think the best time I ever had at a Prom was when I was just there to serve refreshments! We always just went as groups of friends at high school too. Also, Princeton puts on a nice Invitational. We were there last year when my son was still at Clark High School.

Wylie should make finals. I saw Rockwell last weekend and they have a nice show, just haven't seen some of the others to know how they will fair.

I haven't seen anything yet, I keep checking their website for the full results but they haven't posted it yet. I hope you had fun at homecoming, I was sorry to see Princeton didn't make finals
