2007 BOA Regional Schedule
MissClarinet replied to mbui's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
50 hours? In one week? What for? Then again, I think at one point, in just a week we were in charter buses for even longer...because....yeah, Atlanta from Austin....at least 18 hours one way...plus all the hours of driving in between. Haha, but that was a marvelous trip. I don't know, I guess I am just weird. -
Hate me if you must...but, Mahler? Huh?
-
Hmmm...ummm...just wondering...but how the HECK did they win? Yeah, I used to really like 'em and all....but I mean, I haven't heard really any of their music for....a few years. What did they come out with that was so "great?"

Yeah, well, I am really glad you liked it. There are a LOT of things I could say about the show...haha (that I won't say on here), but I am still glad you liked it. -

Even if El Paso is further away, I still hope a lot of inner-Texas bands come. Haha, I mean, come on! Who doesn't love charter bus rides? -
Who won what big awards last night? I didn't really get to watch.

BOA El Paso 2007
MissClarinet replied to MissClarinet's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Yeah so....I really hope it doesn't end up being that none of the well-known bands from Texas attend. Then again, you never know what'll happen. Rampart's first time at BOA was last year at Grand Nats and they at least got into Semis. It will be interesting to see what will happen this upcoming year with them since they will be 5A and such. -
Hey, so...BOA El Paso. I know it's new this coming year and all, but does anyone know who is going or when we can find out who is going? It would be great if not only some bands in the area joined, but also some of the big bands that we all know and love; L.D. Bell, Reagan, Bowie, Churchill, Marcus, SFA, Westfield, Woodlands...and others (don't hate me if I forgot any other big bands). I'm from Bowie, but am in CO now, and well...Rampart's coming down to participate in the competition! So...if anyone knows if their school is attending, that'd be great! I'd love to get to chance to see Texas bands' shows again.

Hey!!! So, Rampart's coming down to El Paso for the BOA Competition! Dan, they ARE from Colorado, and might I say....marching around in the snow is NOT FUN! Any way I can find out who knows if they are going to the El Paso BOA Competition? P.S. - Any one from Bowie....yeah, try to persuade the directors about going to El Paso this year! It would be great to see you all again. :-) -

Oh yeah...and "Play like it's your last time."

I think "What a Shame" is one of my favs. Haha, to add to that....we can have, easily: STRAIGHT LEGS! Don't be reactive, be proactive. Play as short as Mrs. G Don't do crack (or something to that effect). THO-THO-THO (I'd like to see who knows that one) 2-Minute Water Break! (45 seconds later....) Alright, you guys, set one! You guys will drive me up a wall (he's already standing ont he top of the wall). Yeah, it's late, so that's all I can think of right now.

I wear nine and a halfs. What is the rowdiest section in your marching band?

Wow, that's totally disgusting, but I think I'd definately say coughing up blood in your girlfriend's mouth. What is your favorite state to visit (besides Texas, of course)?

Haha, "Cracker Band?" What's this all about? -
L.D. Bell's show...I got to see their Semis and Finals show, and really, I think they changed a lot of their third movement (if not all of the visual). But what they did in their Finals show - with the white tarp and all - that pretty much, I would say, was what got them so far in comparison to Semis. That GE was shocking and amazing and I could just hear the audience gasp at its effect. I definately liked it in comparison to their Semis show.

Congrats to all the GN Finalists

I really did think it was amazing. Having to move it was hard not being a part of the wonderful ability of Texas bands, but watching all of them nonetheless was still amazing. It was really a treat being a part of it all. And I have to say to Bowie that, it was amazing how we ended up being the only band practically in Finals without having props or voice-overs in the show. I honestly love that it was just targetted towards the main point of a marching band and didn't have any of those other distractions on the field - though they definately were a way to boost GE. Still, CONGRATS to all of the Texas bands!!! It was awesome!
