Man, that's messed up. Wish y'all could've gone, it would've been the first time a Mesquite band went to State right? It's cool to find out about band history, I never heard that North used Poteet's parking lot to practice on lol But congrats on North Forney making State!

So I've been getting into and watching military bands lately, and I've gotta say I have a new found appreciation for it! I've always found them cool due to the drill they march and the fact that they HAVE to be so clean to pull those moves off sometimes (plus have a really good internal tempo), but after really paying attention to them, you realize that the best of them are playing marches at a pretty high level while constantly on the move, trying to execute fundamentals so perfectly. Now that I've been watching Longview and Kingwood from the 70s to the 90s, I have to say that they don't get the attention they deserve. These bands lately just strive for perfection, not worried about the corps-style marching bands and their competitions. I just wanted to ask some questions: 1) How many bands in Texas are still marching military? 2) What bands have switched to corps style and when did they do so? I know Texas High in Texarkana and Humble High have, and Humble switched fairly recently. I also know that the list is probably fairly long, but I just have to know

Does anyone remember Sherman's 2015 show? I was honestly shocked that they didn't advance to State but McKinney North did (no shade towards them). I know that was years ago, but to be completely honest, I feel like Sherman is a lot better than their placements. Granted, I haven't seen them the past 2 years, but definitely feel like they get the short end of the stick.

Are Colleyville Heritage, Burleson Centennial, Aledo, and Chisholm Trail all in the same area?Cause if this contest is any indication, Colleyville and Centennial are gonna be making some noise at Area.

The assistant/marching band director from John Horn left to McCallum High, so I honestly don't think Horn will make Finals anymore :/

I've always been confused as to why high school bands from pretty well off districts/cities have trouble keeping directors. And a lot of times, it's seems like these directors just move to other well off places.

I think I found out what I think I was mistaking it for. Richland was 2nd at HEB in 2016, right behind Marcus. Guess all the talk about Richland possibly beating Marcus made me think they actually beat them recently.

My mistake then, but the one thing I'm sure of is that one year they beat Marcus. Might've been at BOA but I'm not sure anymore lol

You should go to the Mexico vs USA game for the Gold Cup! Live MLS matches kinda bore me because it tries to make games very family-friendly, so there's not the intense atmosphere you'd probably need to really get in to it lol

Soccer. Unlike a lot of people though, I don't follow any of the European leagues lol. I watch games from my favorite team in Liga MX, the Gold Cup, and of course the World Cup, as well as Mexico or USA matches. P.S. Croatia juat had some really bad luck in the Final and it still breaks my heart that they didn't win </3

I've heard it's to keep judges from making preconceived judgements of the show, or from keeping them from guessing what the band is gonna do and how they're gonna play certain peices

I can understand if someone doesn't wanna stand, but I've always seen it as really rude to not clap at all

Honestly, it was just a joke going around at the time and I decided to go with it as my username lolI've been thinking about changing it to SmilesTheBone for years now cause "Smiles" was my nickname in marching band, but I just never did it. Guess I might as well do it now

Cool. I didn’t know Marching band was a thing in Australia! I don’t think bands in the US march with music at all, right? It’s all memorized. I know they use the flip folders in the stands if needed, but I don’t remember ever seeing a band marching on the field with them. Unless it’s a special song for the dance team to do their thing to, and the band hasn’t memorized it.
