Area C 2019
BlackJesus replied to CatOfSachse's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I did a little digging, and it looks like V.R. Eaton has moved up to 6A (as well as Waxahachie for those who didn't know), while The Colony, Lake Dallas, and Northwest moved to 5A Area B. In the Area there are: 10 bands in Region 3 5 in Region 4 16 in Region 20 7 in Region 21 That's a total of 38 bands in this Area, but Region 20 holds all of the Dallas ISD bands. [Opinion] The number of bands I feel like are guaranteed 1's are 21 bands, most likely is 4 bands, and least likely is 3. Maximum # of Area Qualifiers = 28 Area C will for sure have 4 bands advance to state, and it's plausible that they send 5. With that being said, here are my finalists predictions (for a contest that is 11.5 months away ) in no particular order. 1-3) Highland Park, Poteet, Forney 4-6) North Forney, Midlothian, Red Oak 7-10) Texas, Royse City, West Mesquite, Lindale (Military-style ) HP, Poteet, and Forney SHOULD be locks for State Advancers. The last spot or two could go to either North Forney, Midlothian, Red Oak. And I know West Mesquite doesn't have a great record historically, but they've received straight ones for the past 3 years and their show this year was tons better than last year.- 46 replies

Area C 2018

Their head band director left to Lake Highlands for a year or two, but now I'm not sure where he is. -
I think I was searching for videos of my high school band freshmen year (2013), but had no luck so I looked for anything on Google, and found this place. My entire high school career I spent maybe 100s of hours on this site. I would look into what schools were going to my competitions, watch their shows to get an idea how we stood against them, even find out what schools were in my Area when it was realigned BEFORE the entire list was posted anywhere. I was the biggest marching band nerd lol

Well you obviously haven't been in school for a while now lol -
I just got word of this today, but the new Director of Bands at Marcus High School will be Jeffery (Jeff) Jones from North Mesquite!! Given that I'm a Poteet alum which is just down the street from North Mesquite, Mr. Jones was like a another band director to us (which he actually was many years ago), and although it is heartbreaking to see him go, we congratulate him for obtaining such a highly sought out for position! Just to name a few of his accomplishments, Mr. Jones increased the band membership from 117 to over 400, placed as an alternate to State twice, grown the ensembles from 2 to 5, and overall just created an incredibly strong bond in North Mesquite's band program. Please treat him well Marcus Band! You're about to meet one of the most influential and intellectual men the band world has ever known.

6A UIL Area 2018
BlackJesus replied to Dog885's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Their director moved to Lake Highlands in 2015, but he either left or retired after a year or two because he's not there anymore. Sad what happened to them honestly, such a good program. -
It's been a while since I've been on here but what do y'all feel about keeping all the files from competitions here on this thread for future reference and users? I know there's worldofpageantry but this'd generally be more specific with results. People could also ask for a specific contest and year and if anyone has/can find it they can post. Thought it'd be nice to have a sort of database on here for stuff like that. If this takes off then please move to a more relevant section, if not then at least I tried lol

Gonna brag on my old school real quick, Poteet has won 3 times ('97, '05, and '07) and been to State 14 times and qualified for 15 (we were kept from attending in 2011 for an "ineligible marcher"). Every state year since 1990! P.S. All have been in old 4A/new 5A P.P.S We've medaled 6 times *somewhat humble brag*

Well that's unfortunate :/ Don't understand why they'd release the schedule on the website if it wasn't official yet. -

Weren't the rules changed to include everyone who made 1s, not everyone who attends Area? Edit: Or am I going crazy? -
Area C 5A Predictions
BlackJesus replied to JackAttack's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Here is the schedule for the contest. 27 bands will be performing, BUT 30 (31) made 1s at Region! I knew that last cycle a few military bands opted out of Area C and I knew they were in Region 20 and 21 but couldn't find results anywhere and had to do some digging. The 3 military bands I can confirm** made 1s are Ennis, Nacogdoches, and Whitehouse. I couldn't find anything on Hallsville but I can confirm that the other military bands unfortunately did not receive all 1s. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this'll be the first time ever that Area C has 6 bands advance to State! What a growth! I believe that back in 2011 they only had 3 My locks for finals in no order are: • Poteet • Highland Park • Royse City • The Colony • Waxahachie • Forney I also expect Midlothian and North Forney to be in Finals but I have yet to see their shows this year so I am not certain. The bands I see on the bubble are Lake Dallas, Denton, Lindale, Texas, Naaman Forest, and Red Oak. The bands I have NO IDEA about that could possibly make it are Denton Ryan, Northwest, Pine Tree, Sulphur Springs, and Mount Pleasant. My predictions for State advancers in order are: 1) Waxahachie 2) Forney 3) Poteet 4) HP 5) The Colony 6) Royse City Best of luck to all the bands this weekend! 2017 Area Schedule 5A.pdf -

2015 BOA San Antonio Predictions
BlackJesus replied to guardgirl17's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I do feel for the bands that won't get to be there though. I'm sure the people running the event have been working hard to figure this out all day but unfortunately they couldn't fit a few back in. I'm sure they could've done something else to fit them in tomorrow but like we know, marching band isn't fair -

This website gets so heated around this time of year haha -
Thank you! I wasn't trying to, everyone who advances to State is on another level no doubt, I tip my hat to everyone there. It's just fact that some areas aren't as strong as others (Area D for example, most* Top 3 bands in every area couldn't break the Top 4/5 there).

Pretty happy with both our performances Although, we tore apart in the beginning during Prelims & in our 3rd part/mvmt. in Finals for a good 15 seconds + some of us were a little excited and you can hear individual players/harsher chords which really cost us in Music during Finals. Nothing we can't fix though. Congrats to everyone in Area C who made State! As I predicted this year was for sure the best the contest has ever been. Everyone in Finals this year could've made State IMHO if they were in other Areas (no offense).
