  1. Gulf Coast Sound will be at the Houston showing again this year at the Marq-E theater on I-10. Stop by and say hey. We will be out front handing out flyers, etc.
  2. Drill camp number 1 is in the books. Its not too late to jump on board. We are still looking for a soprano (trumpet) or 2 and some front ensemble percussionists but we will take members in all sections. Come check out what The Gulf Coast Sound is all about!! Visit our website at www.gulfcoastsound.org
  3. Practice tomorrow!!!! Come on out and see what the DCA fuss is all about.
  4. Oh quit being so dramatic. The show starts at 7pm. Traffic inbound on 290 will be dead by 6 or so....and its less than 15 miles to I-10 from the Eldridge/1960 area anyway. You should come out to Gulf Coast Sound practice this weekend. We could use some more experienced percussionists in our front ensemble....not to mention the horn line and drum line too. Its a great way to spend the summer and its a lot cheaper and closer to home than most junior corps. And if you decide that you want to march in a junior corps, its a great way to get a little bit of experience. Come on out!! www.gulfcoastsound.org for more details.
  5. I will be attending the showing in Houston at the Marq-E theater on I-10 and Silber along with all my Gulf Coast Sound buddies. In fact we will be handing out flyers, etc trying to do a little recruiting.
  6. TSU.....cool. We have an alum or two kicking around in our group. Come check us out this weekend. We could always use another horn player. Check out the maps on our website at www.gulfcoastsound.org
  7. Practice this weekend.....bump!
  8. Really? Huh....this list of scores from Finals in 2005 seems to disagree with you. (DCI Major) DCI World Championships Finals, Foxboro, MA August 13, 2005 Place Corps Score 1 The Cadets 99.150 2 The Cavaliers 97.625 3 Phantom Regiment 96.825 4 Blue Devils 95.250 5 Bluecoats 94.450 6 Madison Scouts 92.625 7 Carolina Crown 90.725 8 Santa Clara Vanguard 88.650 9 Boston Crusaders 88.400 10 Blue Knights 88.225 11 Glassmen 87.700 12 Spirit from JSU 86.075 Must be that "new math" they are teaching you kids nowadays.
  9. I'm with you on that one dude. But as has been pointed out....that show was on last year's countdown so it has been removed from eligibility this year.
  10. Its cool....I am glad to see that you found them to be a good place to be. I was really impressed with what they did last year considering their size and all. I look forward to hearing you guys at the TX Drum Corps Preview show in Austin on June 24th. And for those of you who dont know what that is.....check out this site. Should be a great time.....I know it was last year.
  11. If you live in or around Houston and would like to check out an All Age DCA drum corps come on by. Maps and directions can be found on our website at www.gulfcoastsound.org. We still have plenty of spots available in brass, guard and percussion. We play bugles in the key of G so brass players bring a mouthpiece and we will give you a horn to play on for the day. Practice starts at 10 so be there early and ready to go. This week we also practice on Sunday afternoon from 1 - 6pm. Come check us out!!
  12. I vote Kanstul and then DEG in the key of G....oh...wait....you were talking about concert instruments. Never mind.
  13. I know a place you can march where you wont miss any of your high school events...and its a lot closer to home than any of the DCI corps and costs about half as much. Any Houston area folks interested in marching in a DCA corps this summer check out the website in my signature. If you are looking for a fun drum corps experience to use as a stepping stone to DCI or even possibly a place to go if you didnt make it into that DCI corps that you love. Come out and march with us. Its fun and its a great learning experience that you can take with you to your next DCI tryout. We still have plenty of room available in the hornline, guard and battery. We do require a commitment from your parents as boosters, etc if you are under the age of 18. Next camp is January 14th. Details available on our website.
  14. *waves at Chris* Thanks for the link to this board. Anyone in the Houston area looking to march a DCA corps this summer check out the link in my sig.
  15. Wow...that is quite possibly one of the rudest comments I have ever read on a message board. Who are you to demean the efforts of those kids in Trinity? It takes big brass ones to do what they are doing....especially when they are such a small group. I had the honor of performing at the same venue with them last year in San Antonio for the TX Drum Corps Preview and I really admired the effort they put out. I also had the honor of watching them perform in Wichita Falls last year and it takes a lot of gut to go out on that field and perform when there is no room to hide in the line. When you only have 1 horn on each part there is no room for plugs. By the way....where are you marching this summer?
