Greetings to everyone in the world of marching music in Texas! The Austin Stars are an all-age drum & bugle corps based in Austin Texas. We will be fielding a corps of about 60 members in 2008 and will compete in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) circuit culminating at the DCA World Championships in Rochester, NY on August 30-31, 2008. Our 2008 production is called "Stars In The Spotlight: On Stage, Screen and Field". Read more about it here. Also we have filled all primary staff positions and you can read their profiles at this link. As of today we have about 25 brass, 18 percussion and 16 guard comprised of people of all ages and all walks of life and theres plenty of room for more. Membership is open to anyone age 21 and up with some exceptions for those age 18 to 21. (We encourage you to do DCI corps first!) Our only requirements are that you have previous experience in marching band, guard, drumline or drum corps. Yes, even those "old farts" in their 20's, 30's or 40's can join! This is for anyone who loves marching and loves drum corps. Some people always wanted to do DCI but never got the chance. This is the next best thing. So if you want to attend our open house and first camp on Saturday, November 17th, please fill out the online registration form by clicking on this link. One of the great things about the Austin Stars all-age corps is that we are "weekend warriors". Unlike DCI corps, we only rehearse and compete on weekends. This allows our members to maintain jobs or school Monday thru Friday. Also, our corps dues are very inexpensive compared to jr corps (DCI). So if you or anyone you know would love to march drum corps this summer but you don't want to go broke doing it or if you can't afford to take too much time off during the summer, this could be for you! More info to come!

DCI's Div I corps The Blue Stars still have spots open for baritone, euphonium and tuba as of May 20th. For more information visit the corps webiste www.bluestars.org or email brass caption head Andy Tye at andy.tye@bluestars.org. The corps is based in La Crosse, WI and are currently in the early stages of spring training at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Blue Stars boast one of the finest brass staffs in drum corps. They are led by DCI hall of fame member Donnie Van Doren, the man who helped bring The Cadets and Star of Indiana to several high brass honors in the 80's and 90's and a place in drum corps history as some of the finest hornlines ever. The Blue Stars are one of the original founding corps of Drum Corps International. The corps surged back into Division I competition in 2006 placing just two spots out of finals. They will definitely push for a finalist position in 2007 with their production "Power & Grace" As a member of the Blue Stars, you will become a part of 42 years of rich history and tradition. An experience with the Blue Stars family will surely change your life forever.

Good luck, Frontier! Hopefully I'll get to visit you for at least a couple of camps this winter / spring.

Man, that's a tough one! That's like asking what your favorite flavor of ice cream is... I like 'em all! I got to see the 2002 show a lot since I went to Madison that year for Quarters, Semis and Finals but The Planets has always been one of my most favorite orchestral works so I voted for the '95 show. It's really amazing to see how consistently awesome Cavies have been for the past five years.

Bingo. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Don't dis a drum corps if they're small or lacking in talent. Join them and help them get bigger and better!

Hello everyone, My name is Brent Unger and I am the founder and director of the Austin Stars Performing Arts Association (ASPAA). The long range vision of ASPAA is to offer a wide range of performance opportunities for people of all ages and the first phase of this is the foundation of the Austin Stars Drum & Bugle Corps. The Austin Stars are an all-age corps with membership open to anyone age 18 and up with prior experience in marching band (brass, perc, guard only) winter guard, indoor drumline or drum & bugle corps. Even if you are over 21 years old (the DCI age-out) you can still march drum corps. I know there are a lot of you out there who always wanted to march in a DCI corps but waited till it was too late. Now's your chance to do drum corps and you can do it for as long as you want to or as long as your legs will let you march! One of the great things about all-age drum corps is that we only rehearse and perform on weekends and it cost much less than junior (DCI) corps. We do, however, encourage ALL young people between 18 and 21 years old to march with any of the local junior corps if you can including Trinity and Revolution. What's the difference between junior and senior corps? Age: Juniors are between 15 and 21. Seniors are from 18 to any age! The average age in Austin Stars will likely be between 30 and 35 years old. Atmosphere: Junior corps is an educational venture whereas in senior corps it's more recreational. While we do strive to better ourselves in performance we never loose sight of the fact that we're doing this for fun! Time: In the summer, junior corps practice 7 days a week for about 2 months. Senior corps practice only on weekends because our members have jobs or are still in school. We even offer daycare for our members who have young children! Money: Today the average annual dues for a junior corps is no less than $1,000 dollars. Senior corps annual dues (at least with the senior corps in Texas) are under $500.00. Family: It is true that in junior corps you will become part of a big family and will form friendships that will last the rest of your life. In senior corps that phenomena is doubled because of the fact that most members are all from the same metropolitan area and spend lots of time with each other outside of drum corps. Since we have no age-out limit our members can march for years and years thus magnifying the sense of family in the corps. The Austin Stars support the drum corps activity as a whole in Texas including the junior (DCI) corps and senior (DCA) corps. We have never had this many corps in Texas so now no matter where you are in Texas there's most likely a corps near you that you can be involved in. Tell your friends and any former band, guard or drumline membes you know about the Austin Stars. We will have an Open House meeting for all interested persons on Saturday, June 10th. The first rehearsal will take place sometime in October. Winter camps will be once a month through April 2007 then change to twice a month in May and June. We will go to the DCA World Championships on Labor Day Weekend in September 2007. See you on the 50!
