Cinco Ranch will be attending I think that this will be our first year at this competition, Yay for firsts!

Last year our show had a trumpet solo, but this year nobody has a solo. But instead of solos we have quite a few woodwind/brass features in this year's show And at the beginning of our ballad a double reed quartet (2 oboes, an English Horn, and a basson) is playing, amplified with microphones so that we can actually hear them It sounds pretty cool

There was a girl at our school who was going to be a senior, and she was killed in a car crash during the summer. So, when the school year started, some of her friends roped off her parking spot (they had permission to) and put flowers and wrote touching things in chalk in her spot. It's actually still there..very sad...

Cinco Ranch will be attending SHSU this year also, and from what I hear (Katy) Taylor will also be going. Each band is in a division for the preliminaries: A (65 or fewer) AA (66-119) AAA (120 or more) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are awarded in each class, but only the 10 bands with the highest overall scores will move on to finals. So even if you don't win in your class, you could still make finals (i.e. last year we were 9th our division, and we still continued on to finals). And if you recieve 1st in your class, but are not in the top 10, you automatically move on. They also have captions for Best Color Guard and Percussion (respectively) Any other questions could probably be answered on their website http://www.shsu.edu/music/events/marchfest/

Its not that Mortan Ranch is bad, per se, but Katy, Cinco and Taylor all feed from the same junior highs, so some friends go to one school, and other friends go to the other. So, they want to win so that they have bragging rights

Yes it is, but nobody around here really has a rivalry w/them

Pretty much all the schools here in Katy ISD are rivals, but the main 3 are: Katy HS, Cinco Ranch (my alma mater ), and (Katy) Taylor HS But a new school just opened in our district, Seven Lakes HS, and they are supposed to be pretty good. All friendly rivalries (sp?) of course

Well I know that the SHSU marching contest is on Nov. 4th Our band is going to be there

Our trombone section this year had shirts that said "Trombones, doing it in 7 different positions"

So, for 06-07, Katy ISD schools would be in Region 23 for band, but Region 18 for Football/Basketball?

I attend Cinco Ranch High School in Katy ISD and in the UIL website it says that we're in region 23, hmm..maybe thats just for 06-07?

our band has 40 altos, then again, this year we marched almost 300 people, and about half of the altos actually play oboe during concert season, but they play the alto during marching season

yeah our french horns were always out of tune, no matter how much we tried to tune them well you actually placed us one higher than we made in finals

yeah this year im doing academic octathlon (academic competition w/8 events, hence the "octa" ) and next year im doing decathlon its really hard during marching season bc theres so much work to do, but now in concert season its not that bad n im planning on joining every other club i can (i.e. student council, national honor society, spanish honor society etc.) and of course continuing band so hopefully it'll look good on a college application
