Hey I just wanna congratulate all bands who attended Jamboree! You ALL were awesome! It was so much fun! I'm looking foward to a great marching season for everybody! Peace! Love! and CRABSSSSSSS!!! MMMMMMmmmmmm!

We don't march on anything BUT concrete. Except for performances. It's my last year in marching band, and I'm fine right now........ I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that made it out okay.

You can do it the terminator! Have more faith in yourself! If you want it, go out and get it! How bad do you want it?! If you haven't noticed, I'm really fired up right now! lol I hope the UT professor does the bassoon CD. =) That would make me one happy bassoonist. I'm going all out on region music this year!

AHHHHHHHH!!!!! We just had our first performance tonight!! It was pretty good for a first performance! I'm really excited!!!

That's AWESOME. I used this as a source of inspiration for our band. It really helped some people out of some things they were going through. Thanks man! You rock!

I'm not sure the EXACT number but we have three movements. I could ballpark 80-90 adding up the numbered set we end on on each movement. They're not the cleanest things in the world though. Long ways to go. I can't wait to see what are fourth movement is gonna look like also! That's for next week....

You mean that ghetto band? I'm really excited about this year! I have some exciting things planned coming up real soon. This year is in the running for being the best year yet for us. Woooo~! Can't wait for this afternoon.

I've been thinking a lot about region band. I MUST make all-state this year. And I know blah blah blah, everybody has their own view on all-state. This is a personal goal of mine. I'm thinking about making a blog to make myself more accountable and to organize my thoughts.

It sounds to me like you are tensing up from your neck up. Relax your neck. Tonguing should not involve your neck. Throat is open. Your tongue should stay down, and just come up to tongue. You could be doing this because you are using too much embouchure and not enough air. Push and support from the diaphram. Especially while tonguing. But I would recommend over anything that you go to a private teacher with your problem. Have a great day! ~Mike

No problem! Yeah I get impatient sometimes too. I don't know if it's just me being lazy, but do you ever not want to play because you just don't feel like getting the bassoon out, putting it together, getting water and then soaking the reed? lol That's a problem I've been having that I need to get over. When I start playing I can go forever though. Just something you have to push through I guess.

Hahaha. Watch a band is like, "Hey guys I think we were a little too good last season........ let's try and tone things down a bit? k?".

YOU HAD THAT VISION TOO?! Yeah I think this will be an interesting year. Can't wait. =) EDIT* Actually two directors have left. James Van Zandt(going to get his masters) and Eric Carraway(finding himself...?). We've only replaced one of them though right now. They will be missed.

He11 yeah I'm excited about band camp!! This is my last year, and it's going out with a bang!! I'm going all out this year, with everything! There are some big changes a foot in our program so I'm really excited about everything. Too bad this is the last year that I'll be with them. =(........... it's cool I'll be cheering from the stands. =)

Well we have one director change. It's hard to tell. We will definitely have the best talent this year than any of our previous years that's for sure. But there is some resistance to the new director. With me being a section leader this year I'll will do everything I can to motivate. She is a really great director though! She came from Bowie. She's pretty hardcore. lol We're definitely gonna get whipped into shape. I think when people warm up to her and her high standards things will really take off. It's gonna be fun. =)
