  1. Who cares, people are too pretentious on band forums... There is nothing wrong with asking what people thought of your performance.
  2. Rowlett out, Sachse in. Duncanville Berkner Coppel Sachse
  3. UNT Will be competing for the first time since 2002 in the marching competition. Phantom Regiment Will be doing a clinic.
  4. One of my good friends and colleagues just flew in from Florida for a few days to do some choreography with the Hebron band. When he showed me what the kids were going to be doing I was pretty impressed. The brass and wookwinds are doing some legit modern dance. It is also really creepy, which is what the show is shaping up to be I guess. Hebron is making a name for themselves with all this aggressive body moverment the bast couple of years. Also, has anyone noticed the Rockwell/Micheael Jackson quote in the closer? "I get the feeling that Somebody's watchin me" Thought that was clever. Anyway, cool show Hebron, looking foward to seeing it progress in the next few weeks.
  5. The caption awards were taken from prelims scores. Hebron was 2nd overall in prelims and didn't win any captions. In finals, they placed first in a couple captions and took 1st.
  6. Ummm.....The pit was one of the best sections of the 2007 corps. They were the fuel throughout the entire show, and played an incredibly difficult book really well. A they were also not composed of complete rookies. In fact, the pit had the highest percentage of members with previous corps experience, 80% having marched before. The Crossmen pit had 3 members from the 2006 Crossmen, 1 from 2006 Carolina Crown, and 4 from various division 2 corps. Only 2 had never marched drum corps before. The pit (and battery) was the most consistent section in the Crossmen, as is evident by the relatively high percussion scores all season. You are wrong on basically every level. Get your facts straight, bud.
  7. Grand Champion - Seguin They also won all the captions. Any one have the scores/other placements? But congrats to former consistent BOA finalist Seguin. After two rough years, the band is back on its feet under the direction of their new director, Mark Buley. Its good to see and old powerhouse winning again.
  8. A school in NEISD will be losing a director. I'm not gonna go into detail until it is announced though.
  9. I decided to start a thread about director changes for 2007, because there seems to be alot already. Seguin's Head band director (since 2001) Steve Mc Keithen put in his resignation last week.
  10. http://www.yea.org/site/News2?page=NewsArt...ws_iv_ctrl=1003 Select spots still open in the brass section - Trumpet Mellophones Baritones The corps is having a great winter, and things are shaing up nicely with their 2007 program, "metamorphosis." Dont miss this chance! I've been to the past few camps, and the show is incredible! Unlike anything you've ever heard! Dont miss this chance!

  13. The Glassmen are doing a show about gypsies. The Boston Crusaders are doing a latin show. No word on music selections of either. And the Crossmen are playing Symphonic Metamorphosis by hindemith, and Russian Christmas Music By Alfred Reed. They are playing a ton of other stuff, but, i dont know what it is yet.
  14. 1. Extension of warm-up: Yes. Allows for more creativity, and less down time at shows. More entertainment. 2. Raise membership from 135 to 150: No. There are too many division 1 corps that can't even get 135 people. This rule only benefits the upper echelon. 3. Props people not included in corps membership limit: No. Learn how to do props with the members you have. Its been done well before. Figure it out. 4. Inclusion of electronic instruments: Yes. Its 2007, music is in the digital age. In order to appeal to a younger fan base, this needs to (and will someday soon) happen. 5. Postioning of Visual Performance Judge: No. Ehh... I can seen this being used as a crutch as corps start to keep weaker marchers away from the judge. Keep em on the field. 6. Ordinals decided placement at contests: No. heck No. Yuck. 7. Overall Effect judges: No. Its working. 8. Percussion adjudication: Yes. Too many early season percussion tapes are silent, because the judge doesn't know the program, and spends time chasing the percussion. Once the judge becomes more familiar, tapes will be more helpful, and judging more accurate.

  18. The Crossmen are better than they have been in like 3 years, in almost every section, especcially the drums. Whatever you want to assume from that is your call.
  19. Yea, if you guys are saying its mostly about staff and teaching, the Crossmen definately have one of the best. And from marching div 1 drum corps, I can assure you that the talent level definately makes a big difference. Teaching helps, but your talent level lets your teachers teach faster.
  20. Div 1 corps usually have about 65 - 70 horns in the hornline.
  21. The show was announced to the members, but don't expect anyone to say anything... The 2007 Crossmen should get the first of the music at the next camp!
  22. Crossmen Auditions Resume this Weekend Thursday, December 14, 2006 By: Caryn Goebel Become part of this Texas-sized legend What an extraordinary feeling it would be to become a member of the first World Class Division I drum corps making its debut in 2007 from Texas. Those doors to making drum corps history are still wide open for musicians and performers as the Crossmen continue auditions for all sections this weekend in San Antonio. Don't let the huge turn-out of nearly 400 hopefuls in November scare you away. The staff was ecstatic with the enormous interest in the Crossmen, and some fabulous talent was asked to return. But to make this legendary drum corps the absolute best it can be, all caption supervisors still seek those highly skilled and dedicated individuals who can handle the demands of a what's turning out to be a very challenging 2007 program. Camp begins Friday, Dec. 15 at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas, with registration being held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rehearsals kick into gear right away, and auditions will run throughout the day Saturday. Camp comes to a close at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 following what is always a moving ensemble rehearsal where the weekend's hard work and lessons come together. The camp is the second to be held in the corps' new home of San Antonio, Texas. The relocation was announced by Youth Education in the Arts' staff in September, and after much planning and coordination between the Allentown, Pa., office and new Corps' Director Mark Chambers and his management team, the transition is going smoothly. "Last month's camp went great. There were no problems," Chambers said. "All participants were really into the experience and extremely professional and we received a great deal of positive feedback." Chambers feels the talent level seen in students at the November camp was good, although much of those who auditioned were very young. "Great for the future building of a corps," he said. For those interested in seeking a place in the corps and are unfamiliar with the audition process, Chambers assures musicians and performers that the Crossmen staff strive to keep the environment relaxed where prospective members can learn and grow from their weekend experience. "We give feedback to a prospective member and a number of 1, 2 or 3. Based on that number, they can determine if they think it's worth it for them to attend the next camp. We will evaluate those that return and give them feedback as to whether they have a good shot at a spot or not," Chambers said. Veteran Crossmen member Mike Gottier will be returning to Bones this weekend and can't wait to rekindle those friendships with members for the first time since the corps left the East Coast. A job interview kept the baritone player from attending the Crossmen banquet in Philadelphia several weeks ago, so getting back to dear friends and seeing what potential Texas holds for the corps is exciting to Gottier. "I saw the video of the audition camp where they played "Russian Christmas Music" and it was great. It really made me look forward to the season and the possibilities for the corps," Gottier said. Join Gottier and so many other Crossmen vets who can't wait to make drum corps history in 2007! Click here to see a full camp schedule, and to RSVP to the Crossmen Dec. 15-17 audition camp in San Antonio, Texas. Remember, ANYONE is welcome to come audition. you DID NOT have to attend the last camp to come to this one. This audition is open to ANYONE and the corps will continue auditioning folks until they have 135 people who can be succesful with the Crossmen. See you there! Registration starts at 6:00 pm on Friday. When all else is gone.... the BONES still remain
