  1. http://www.yea.org/site/News2?page=NewsArt...ws_iv_ctrl=1002 "This I Believe. Truth, Value, and the Personal Experience Called Drum Corps." Sounds like it will be like Cadets 2000.... Which is not a bad thing.
  2. Its the University of North Texas.... At my high school we had an Awsome Band Hall, but a crappy Auditorium. The Band has its own seperate building, With a huge band hall, and slightly smaller band hall, a library, two pretty big ensemble rooms, a guard room, a percussion studio, 5 offices, a locker room, an upstairs with a ton of practice rooms and a uniform room, and a huge parlor right when you walk in. Back in my day we would watch movies on our big screen TV with surround sound, and take naps in the upstairs practice rooms. I loved the Seguin Band hall.
  3. Sorry to hear that you were cut from Xmen. As for your question: It is not just the top 6 that have well-run organizations. In fact, it has nothing to do with placement at all. Being a top 6 corps does not insure that you will have no logistical problems, or money problems. That cadets have some of the crapiest buses I have ever seen. Corps that I have known to take (very) good care of their members? The Cavaliers Carolina Crown The Glassmen Boston Crusaders There are probably a ton more that more people can attest to. The well-being of your Drum Corps as an organization has little to do with placement.

    Crossmen

Reports that the crossmen had one of the best audition turnouts in Division 1! GO TEXAS! Be a part of history... www.yea.org/crossmen
  9. The red is from last year. Look for silver additions in the future.
  10. While the turnout for Crossmen brass and guard was not at all dissapointing(way more than last years audition camp, and one of the highest in DCI division 1), It would be awsome if the number that came for percussion( about 200) was the same number for brass and guard. COME TO THE NEXT CAMP! ITS NOT TOO LATE! Trust me, I am a crossmen alumni. We had more people for PERCUSSION at this camp then the entire corps turnout for 2005 and 2006 auditions. That is why the corps moved to Texas. The staff is fantastic. This corps will be good. The show may be annonced at the next camp. So show DCI what texas is all about and come to the next crossmen audition camp, December 15-17 in San Antonio at Ronald Reagan. RSVP to Megh@yea.org . Just tell her your coming. The talent level at this last camp was phenomenal. Make it even better.
  11. Good, come to camp on the 24th at Ronald Reagan!
  12. Not division 1 normally. They youngest I've seen in div 1 is 15 or 16.
  13. Seguin Vs. Reagan in the Alamodome on saturday!
  14. The Magic is Inactive for the 2007 season. Reagan does march cymbals, and the Crossmen have(and will continue to have) one of the best cymbal lines in DCI.
  15. I wonder if Bowie making finals is any indication on how more Texas bands would do at GN. Does this mean that BOA SA was more stacked and competitive than Grand Nationals?
  16. Synths are not legal. Only acoustic brass and percussion instruments.
  17. Just got back from finals- Bowie was the first on, and they were VERY exciting. Probably one of the coolest visual moments of the night was when the woodwinds made all of theses cocentric circles that expanded and collapsed agaisnt each other really fast. It was litterally dizzying. Reagan- Not as exciting as I thought it would be. They played well and were pretty clean visually. Not gonna win it, IMHO, but It was a very nice show. The only "reaganish" thing about it is the part where the winds so the arm/body movement to the slow synth bass thing. Marcus was the absolute crowd favorite. They play amazingly. Drill was boring, but marched very well. I picked them to win. There music was absolutely incredibly well played. The percussion section, especially the pit, was ridiculously amazing. I loved the show. Ld Bell- I ruin marching shows for myself. I read all the reviews and have this weird pre-conception about what the show is like, and then when I watch it is never what I expect, and I feel sort of dissapointed. Don't get me wrong, they were amazing. The guard was HUGE and maybe the best High school guard I have ever seen. The guard probably would have placed well in freakin DCI. There was never a dirty moment. The show was very good, drill could have been and has been better. I had marcus over them. LD bell is not as squeaky clean as marcus, because they are running around the field the whole time. The show is as creepy as everyone says it is. In fact, I felt sick at one point. Not sure if it was due to the show or not, but creepy nonetheless. The absence of the woodlands from finals shows how completely different BOA and UIL are. I Hate the UIL system. Look at the scores. The judges are terribly inconsistent, and kept reagan from being in the top 5. The scored above 10 in just about everything, but one judge had them 23. How? Were they watching the same band? I'll never understand. I would have much rather seen TWHS, Haltom, or Richland in finals than bands like Coppel and Langham Creek. No offense to those bands, but they obviously "play" the system. Coppel's drill was retarted easy. They sound great, but they also aren't flying around. If I was a band director, I would not do UIL. Any judging system that can have the same band in 6th and 23rd place is too inconsistent for me.
  18. Ugh.. AP... The hardest class I've EVER taken (high school and college) was AP Chem my senior year. It was awful. Luckily I managed to get a 4 on the exam.
  19. At the end of the 2006 season, they were getting new uniforms. I assume they still are, YEA! 's contract with FJM was up, and they weren't happy with them for some reason. So expect new uniforms for both YEA! corps. And corps may get a few new unis each year, but most of the time you just try them on and they fit them to you, like hem them and such. How about this for Crossmen 2007: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/367902...me+-in%3Ascraps
  20. Yea, its been out for a while, Ill add it to the topic post.
  21. Mark sylvester to design drill. Mike Sloan named guard caption. Cliff Croomes and Eric Callaway join percussion staff. www.yea.org/crossmen
  22. Im pretty sure your band director doesnt decide what shes going to fix based off of what other band kids say.
