  1. Does anyone have video of The Woodlands from LSP this past weekend?
  2. Absolutely. It does usually for ANY band that performs first. That's just the nature of the beast.
  3. Imagine how Westfield felt before 2003. Class Champions at Nats, but never the actual champion.
  4. Even more odd...2nd to 7th! I hate to be the cynic, but I COMPLETELY disagree with these placements. STILL, congratulations to every band, regardless of placement. That was an amazing finals -- had it not been, I would be very upset that I wasted a Saturday night. :-)
  5. No...they were in the middle. They were definitely hurt my going first. And this competition was way too close to maintain first place from semis.
  6. This is completely unreal. WOW That's all I can say.
  7. God does it get uncomfortable. We've had people pass out, and it wouldn't surprise me if most bands do.
  8. I was impressed with Bowie. Too bad they didn't make finals last weekend in SA, but they made up for that tonight. I love hearing the people yelling GO TEXAS! :-) HAHA there are even people yelling TEXAS! FIGHT!
  9. They had some sound system issues, but it was absolutely incredible!!!
  10. That's a possibility. But I'd be willing to bet that The Woodlands was first overall.
  11. Who am I? Just guess! Guys wanna touch my chest. AHAHAHAHAH just kidding I don't even know why I thought of that. I'm the voice of reason. That's all you must know. And you have a valid argument. Point taken.
  12. I'm not detracting from your opinion (it is yours, after all), but I don't think LD Bell compares to Spring '93 for several reasons. 1. Musically, I just don't think Bell plays enough to be compared to this Spring band. I'm not saying Bell doesn't play anything...but it is not anything like what Spring did in '93. 2. Visually, Spring revolutionized the marching world with the double helix move (Gaines used it with Spring before the Cavies in '95!). LD Bell is wonderful visually, however, there is nothing that sticks out in my mind as original and innovative. They crawl around a lot...yet, that's nothing compared to the double helix move. 3. I'm going to go out on a limb myself and claim that Bell will not win nationals. This may be blasphemy to say, but too bad. I just do not get the same vibes I get from shows that have won in the past, like Westfield '03, Lassiter '02 and '98, PCEP '99, Lawrence Central '01 and '04, Spring '93, etc. Yes, the show is extremely cool/creepy, but I find it lacking in some regards. What will win Bell will be their performance, not the show (i.e. their performance > their GE). Will I have foot in my mouth syndrome? We'll see come Saturday. It's all just speculation based on observation, anyway.
  13. Umm did you see The Woodlands and Reagan? If you did, you would see why TWHS beat Reagan.
  14. They weren't quite as consistent. LD Bell and The Woodlands were clearly the better bands.
  15. I can assure that while Bowie is only one of the best bands in the state, it is not THE best band. So, please...spare the hype for yourself and your band. Please.
  16. No, there was no State competition in 1993. UIL switched to the every-other-year format by the 90s. But Spring did win the year before and the year after they won Grand Nationals. Westfield and Spring went off and on with the State title.
  17. Ok, seriously... If all you can pay attention to are some stationary objects, then take some Adderall and watch more attentively.
  18. The Woodlands is doing it...and has done it the past couple of times. It should be even easier for Bowie since they're closer to San Antonio, anyway.
  19. Woodlands kids mad about Area? Welcome to UIL Area competitions.
  20. Haha yeah, I like the whole frolicking and merry dancing visuals. They make me laugh and lend a sense of joviality to the show's serious side.
  21. Chives, TWHS is playing the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra, not Barber. I think The Woodlands is pretty dirty right now. But that'll be cleaned up by the time GN rolls around. MAYBE San Antonio -- but, The Woodlands is a late bloomer. Everything about the show itself is awesome, though. I can definitely see the staff changes through the show. I'm excited for College Park. The success of CP reminds me somewhat of Reagan and Churchill. So, I think it's safe to say that everyone agrees on: Spring The Woodlands The Woodlands College Park Brazoswood
  22. AWESOME show. I can't wait to see it live. It's obvious that they're working on the end of the show. With that, and a lot of cleaning (it's visually very dirty and there are some evident individual playing issues), TWHS will have no problem making state (no question about that), and a very pretty finish at BOA SA and Nationals, ALTHOUGH, traditionally, TWHS doesn't do so well at BOA SA for whatever reason. I'd expect to see their best performance and placement at BOA GN Finals.
