  1. I have to say that he definitely is writing for a wide range of things. He has his opera, "Paradise Lost", all of his choir pieces, such as "Sleep", and many bnd pieces, such as "Ghost Train" and "October". I espeacially like the way he wrote Ghost Train and Noisy Wheels of Joy, where it's sort of random phrases pieced together into a grand composition. He also uses many different effects as well. Another composer I enjoy is also Robert W. Smith. I love how he writes his pieces. Some of my favorites would be "The Swarm" and "Songs of Sailors and Seas."
  2. Morning Rush is a good idea. We were thinking about using the word Opera in the title, but I don't know how to use it.
  3. Well, he has done some great things with choir music, and being so young, there is much to come from him.
  4. The other day in band, we began talking about the greatest composers of all time and who would most likely become the next big thing. I brought up Eric Whitacre and we seem to think he will be. Look at what alot of bands are playing now and days. At UIL alot of high schools were playing songs such as Noisy Wheels of Joy and Ghost Train. Now almost every Drum Corp seems to be playing one song or another composed by him. Same with the high schools. So what do you think, is Eric Whitacre the next great composer?
  5. Ok, so far the McNeil 2006 show is un-named. We have gone through many names but none of them seem to fit. Maybe someone else has a good idea. Our show includes the following: Movement I: Opens with "Morning" by Greig, but is mostly "Barber of Seville" by Rossini Movement II: "Morning" by Greig with the drumline playing "La Cucaracha" Movement III: "William Tell Overture" by Rossini Any suggestions will help! THANKS!!!
  6. my top picks would be: 1) A tie between Madison Scouts '95 and '96. they are my favorite shows of all time 2) Cavaliers 2000 3) Bridgemen 1980 (Old School!) The Bridgemen show is friggin hilarious.
  7. I love the opening with Grieg. It's gonna be great once we put it all together on the field. Oh, and I meant to put Rossini, sorry about that. I'm trying out for drum major so I've been listening to the midi file and conducting through the first movement alot. I'm looking forward to having a great marching season. THANKS FOR THE GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!
  8. McNeil's is going to based on Risigni's overtures, and features William Tell Overture and Barber of Seville. It's gonna be tough but we just got the midi file of the completed music and it sounds amazing. Our drill is being written by the guy who writes the drill for the Madison Scouts. AWESOME!!! We started using him before he got that gig, so he still does stuff for us. Talk about go timing. Anyways, post your shows.
