  1. Oh, and dang Aledo, was not expecting that loud of a sound!!
  2. Okay so I've only watched a few bands today and I wrote down all the ones I got to see. I didn't get to watch Round Rock, Dripping Springs, Hendrickson or Cedar Ridge but I'm sure they were great. (Now I really wish I could have seen these amazing bands!) Here's what I thought of the bands I saw today in no particular order: Leander- that first hit was incredible! GE was outstanding Amazing, the first movement was really strong! I liked the concept of the show, and they are really good at performing! Choral Works! The singers were AWESOME! Westlake-I really think that this show has a lot of potential. It was still early in the season, but I feel like they were very quiet for a lot of the show. The music had strengths at some points, mainly in 2nd and 3rd movement. Props looked pretty sweet, kinda like Lord of the Rings! Pflugerville -Good music, plume shakes were super quirky, really added to GE. The soloist was well played but I feel like he drowned out the rest of the band. Westwood-I really loved your show! The guitar was a cool addition, and you had a big sound as well!! Loved the little hand glider at the end! Cedar Park- love your music choices! The rainbow flags make for a good big hit!!!! Quietly and fun! Nice guard toss!! Nailed it!!! Still is extremely clean!!! Those lines/ sets though!!! Visuals in the third movement are very fitting to the music Vandergrift- this band never ceases to amaze me. Their marching is top notch for this early in the season. Cool circular drill in the beginning!!! Dang that first hit though!!! I loved the contrast between loud and soft throughout the show and I think you conveyed the galaxy show very well! Vista Ridge- now I was really excited to see this band simply because I've heard good things about it. After watching it, I thought their drill was interesting, their colorguard was nice!(don't know how they did not get dizzy!!) Vista ridge has definitely improved over the last few years! Can't wait to see what they can accomplish! Still early in the season after all! And Bowie nailed it of course!
  3. I'm going to take a stab at guessing who will make finals these are in my opinion locks: (in no particular order) -Bowie -Marcus -Hebron -The Woodlands -CTJ -Reagan Bubble Bands: -Coppell -Cedar Ridge -Westlake -Flower Mound I have not seen Duncanville, Rowlett, Haltom, Friendswood or Berkner, but i've heard some good things about them but I don't know where to place them. This is just my opnion and I could be totally wrong We'll see what happens tomorrow!
  4. I'm actually super proud of Vista Ridge for making finals, I bet those kids were super happy and ecstatic, I don't even remember the last time they made it, or if they even did! Props to them for getting a taste of one of the most difficult super regionals in the country!
  5. Super excited for BOA and State!

  6. any thoughts on westlake this year?
  7. Definitely agree about the early competitions thing. You can't judge a band based on purely their first competition that's so early in the season. That surprised me too, I remember them announcing finalists and when round rock was not a part of it, there was a hushed tone throughout all the bands including mine... I love their show this year! Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
  8. Luckily Westlake has improved so much since BOA Austin. That competition was early in the season and things are really different now. I don't know if I'd consider them a lock but I'd definitely say they have a legitimate shot. Their show is much improved and very difficult!
  9. Will anyone make a prediction list for this competition in the predictions part of the site?

Del Valle HS - 6:45 DRUM MAJOR RETREAT/ANNOUNCEMENT 7:30 FINALS begin at 9:00 PM This contest is absolutley stacked! Also, we are shy just one band of being able to send 7 to state (correct me if I'm wrong), which is so unfortunate! That top 6 is going to be so competitive!
  11. How many bands will this area be taking to state? I've read it's the top 7 but now people are saying top 6! Which is it? I'm so excited for this competition. So many good bands all competing for that state spot!
  12. It was such an early competition, Westlake has made so much progress since BOA Austin. They've kicked it in gear, and after seeing them at Westlake Marching Festival, I'm sure by the end of the season they'll be great! It's definitely a hard show, if they can pull it off, they've got a good chance of making it to state.
