  1. Not too be too prejudice against Horn Rank, BUT I think that I've seen them be WAY off WAAAAAAY too many times to even trust the predictions are based on any accurate past or present scores or based on all factors that go into placement. I do think that each band that they have placed is likely in finals, however I think the placement of many of the bands is way too high or vice versa. With that said, it's a clean slate for everyone this year, and I do not personally believe that any placement in a previous year has anything to do with how a band will do in the present year. When I was a freshman in the Hebron band, we did not even make BOA San Antonio finals and then the next year we made BOA San Antonio finals and got 2nd at state. It all depends on that particular group of kids, and I think that's obvious with Flower Mound's progression, as well, over the past few years. We'll see how this weekend goes. If I'm wrong about Horn Rank and their predictions, so be it. I just don't think they're that reliable, considering the biased opinions I'm sure many have when placing bands. Good luck to everyone today and tomorrow!!
  2. SO excited to see Hebron, Marcus, and FloMo during finals. As a Hebron Alumni, I know what that band is capable of and what the goal is, and if they let themselves be what they are, they've got it in the bag with no competition. However, Marcus, FloMo, and even Reagan have the same purpose going in and they know how to get it done. With that being said, it's going to be a battle for 1st to hopefully and FINALLY have a new champion. I think it'll be great just to see a new 6A Gold Medalist band in TX and so encouraging for more bands who think that only one band even has a chance at the top spot!
  3. To me, if a band is good enough at their music, like Hebron is, it doesn't matter what place they go in for a finals performance. It's a long-held belief that that's what happens(a band loses their chances when they go earlier), but I don't think it's accurate and I do think Hebron can for sure still pull that caption and a top spot in the end even going first in finals.
  4. I was at Hebron's tonight (I'm an alumni and my sister is still in the color guard). Hebron made an appearance with new uniforms tonight- they can be seen all over twitter now that they've been officially revealed. Definite improvement from SA in all aspects- musically, GE, and visually. I'll be in Indianapolis this weekend and cannot wait to see the turnout. Definitely know they have a great chance of taking music and now, with the addition of new visual aspects and an even more lengthened show, I would not be surprised if they win the eagle- and that's not just because I'm an alumni. Wishing them and everyone else attending the best! Cannot wait for everyone to see Hebron there for the first time.
  5. I'm a Hebron Alum, as well, and every time I hear the ballad I wish I could still be marching with that incredible band. I know that there will be some surprises coming out this weekend in Arlington and that the show still has so much to be added but I cannot wait for Arlington- I think they'll pull a third year win for the DFW BOA competition.
