Lots to like this year. Loved watching online this past weekend. Had to bow out of the Independent classes, but sure there's some great stuff going on. Caught Eagle Mountain, very fun show! The Woodlands to me this year has a level of execution going into championships I haven't seen from them the last three seasons. Which of course were fantastic. But there's a confidence there this year that is just another level. I was on the Arcadia train most of the season but I think The Woodlands is my pick now. Would love Texas to bring home its first SW gold. And I think even if Avon hadn't been off this year TW would still be in the drivers seat. Scholastic Open was a blast to watch this weekend, super deep. Little Elm is just downright beautiful, this is their best IMO since they won Scholastic A in 2010 with that gorgeous Somewhere In Time show. I think they medal. The rifle sequence when the six come up front in the little block and stagger out and up to the benches is just chefs kiss awesome. Noblesville is VERY good, but I think Little Elm will be up there with them. Emerson is also an incredibly striking and gorgeous show. Adore the costumes gradually shifting throughout the whole production and the usage of the tarp. The use of space and silence is so well done. Was very interested to see how they would do with the promotion and it seems very well. Pearland also very pretty, the finals run in particular was incredibly tight. Add Westlake on to that and you have four Texas guards really pushing the top of this class. James Bowie also doing well, very exciting program from them. I hope Cy-Fair can get in, love the aesthetic of that show and just find it very unique. Scholastic A continues to be as deep as ever in Texas. Melissa will do VERY well in Dayton, super mature show from them. Katy was a surprise, it's wild how fast you can rise in that class over a few weeks, great showing from them. Also loved Wylie, that show is very Dobyns-Bennett to me. It's cheesy. But in the absolute best way. Add the heavy hitters from Austin and Houston and we could see a great Texas representation in finals in this class.

UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2025 (Nov 5)
LKendrick replied to cheeto2401's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
I think it's going to be a bloodbath. Tons of bands are getting better, you will have bands like Long Creek, Legacy Ranch, Freeman, etc. all in their second years, etc. Will be an exciting one before the realignment in 2026. -
Good, or not really, morning Some really disappointing and unacceptable discussion here. Have cleaned it up here and some people you won't be hearing from again. Personal attacks on specific band members are incredibly inappropriate and disgusting to read. And are totally unacceptable for this website. It's not how we do things here. Please continue to discuss (passionately!) things you may like or didn't, but there is a very clear line that was crossed on here. We are better than this.

14 judges over two rounds with incredible resumes and experience had them first in both rounds. UIL isn't whispering in their ear to somehow magically align their numbers to make Celina win. This panel thought overall that Celina was the best. It's not that complex. I saw them from field level. INCREDIBLE sounds and phenomenal VP with an understated but cohesive product. You may not necessarily like the story they were trying to tell with their show, but they communicated it masterfully. Panther Creek was incredible too. And Davenport. And everyone. 4A is deeper than ever. Our favorite show doesn't always win and that's okay. We don't have the discredit the work of other bands to say we think someone else should have won.

Great outlook and approach, I respect that. Seriously love the show. Can't wait to see how it does in San Antonio! -

I think most bands would have preferred to go again, lightning just got out of hand. I think they could have got it in before the delay to 8pm. At that point it became logistically impossible to get it in. Last band finished at 9:15pm. Results and verification around 9:30pm-9:45pm. Then you have to make sure all bands get a proper warmup. Earliest finals would have realistically been possible to start would have been around 10:45pm. -

Also if you're a student or parent of a student in a band and post on here, your directors might read this and it can give your band a bad reputation. Think before you post. -

Man. 4A topics are even spicier than 6A. I posted this in the 4A Area C thread too. Just because a band didn't do as well as you wanted doesn't mean you get to come on here and spread baseless and silly misinformation. Area notoriously produces crazy results every year. It's no surprise. Keeping an eye on this topic....... -

This area is BRUTAL. Congrats to all the bands who advanced and made finals or got close. Definitely one of the toughest gauntlets in UIL now. -

What a crazy day! Finished up prelims after 9pm!!! Shoutout to Pampa, Hereford, Andrews, Pecos, and Fort Stockton on dealing with the absolute worst of the day in terms of delays. Randall got poured on right before the second delay, so shoutout to them on pulling out a win in probably the worst conditions of the day! I heard Pampa went in and out of warmup like 5 times. Sitting on a bus for hours and hours is grueling and takes some mental fortitude. SO GLAD Pecos ADVANCED! They've seriously stepped their game up in recent years and this year is no exception. I was so bummed only 3 were going to, but the divine intervention of UIL judges preference was a positive force yesterday. -

Good morning. What did I say about behaving? 😅 We are working on some troll proof spray. Let's see if it works. Congrats to all the bands! And to the people discussing things in a civil way. -

Contest is delayed until 12:45pm. Finals on the table for now. Very fluid situation. It's looking like the rain should clear out by around noon or so. -

I've been following band for a long time, I can't remember the last time an area alternate date was used. Even if it's just prelims they'll try to get it in even if it's start and stop all day with performances. We shall see. -
