  1. A new contender has emerged. Rain.
  2. Raymondville should turn some heads. Loved them at 4A state last year.
  3. Hi. Rudely and baselessly railing against a specific band is a fast way to get yourself banned. Have a nice day
  4. @J-Mike16 I oopsied on 6A Area C and submitted with no predictions can you delete mine lol
  5. Very common. Different judges see and hear different things and bring their own personal experience and expertise to the table. I personally love getting as many eyes and ears on each caption as possible.
  6. Got some amazing tapes, two solid runs, saw some amazing bands, and heading back to the panhandle! Was a great (and exhausting) weekend. Don't recommend a get off the field and back in warmup again within 45 minutes for finals lol but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes! Hopefully back at 4A state in about two weeks!
  7. As someone who is from this area and also perhaps works here it's been awesome seeing 2 state finalists in 2022 and 2023 from up here. Love seeing the representation from all areas in 4A at the state finals level. Tough contest! One really good band is going to have to stay home this year that would have advanced last year and I don't envy the judges. Best of luck to all!
  8. Ended up with 18, got close to 20. Regions 16 and 22 were kind of a bloodbath. Riverside is the biggest shocker for me, I've been super impressed with every video I've seen of them this year. I think they were a better band this year, despite how UIL went. Sometimes you get a brutal panel and get a ton of 2s. They'll be back next year. Canyon ISD trio and Pecos are all very strong this year again, I hate that someone is going to get left out this year. Was cool last year seeing all the Area As in either the teens or finals, growth up here has been awesome. I love seeing area become super competitive. Andrews has a super fun and visually captivating show this year, Big Spring is always solid, Hereford sounds and looks better than they have in a long time, etc. Should be a fun contest next week.
  9. Great panel ✅ Two runs ✅ Get to see some of the best bands in the business ✅ Had a blast in 2022.
  10. It's open registration. And they're incredibly flexible and great hosts!
  11. This is the correct mindset. Y'all behave 😐
  12. McNeil percussion has always been very strong, not shocked to see them up there. Whole band took a huge step up the last two years as well.
  13. Pulling that off as someone dabbling in design is SO challenging. The buy in plus the product is top notch. I want to see that in BOA San Antonio finals.
  14. This Cypress Woods show coulda gone so wrong. It went SO RIGHT. I love it. And they sound INCREDIBLE.
  15. That is also pushing it lol. Let's all relax a little
  16. Well I just caught up on the rest of this conversation so sorry I haven't been stalking the forums all day 🤷‍♂️ "Results > Your Feelings" is pushing it.
  17. Let's be respectful please. Some hearty discussion is fine but try not to be snarky/nasty. Thank you.
  18. Lone Star ate this year. Mahler arrangements are top notch.
  19. Unless you're hearing the judges tapes and hearing the reason they're writing the number down, all this bias/unfair judging talk is just speculation and kinda misinformation. Unless you have specific examples and evidence of a judge having a bias and that influence the number they're writing down, it's probably just your personal opinion/your own personal bias. I hear it every year.
  20. Which was great, top half of finals is the next step.
  21. In previous years I would agree a little more. Although music is still the strength, I really enjoy their music program. GE wise I think they have some fantastic moments across the board, the musical phrasing and building is pretty top notch in that regard. I find the opener and closer in particular to be also exciting visually, huge field coverage, beautiful forms, and sequences, great direction ,etc. I think 4th-6th is very much in play, which would be a massive step up for them.
