I'm just commenting on the shows i got to see.
Flower Mound- Amazing in every sense of the word. Musicality is extremely off the charts and they showed that off with that clarinet duet and the mid brass line at the end. What you would expect from a school sending the 2nd most All-Staters and placing 2nd in honor band!
Bowie-being the one finalist band going to GN, other than Flo-Mo, this show had that GN feel with all the props and just the theme of the show with Queen music providing an over-the-top production value.I really enjoyed all they had going on visuall at the beginning and just taking in that powerful brass throughout. Really enjoyed this show and can't wait to see it again at SA.
L.D. Bell- For a group to have a resurgence, they need to have a fall, and in my opinion, Bell never fell off, which is what I've been hearing from people leading up to and during this weekend. They continue to be fundamentally solid visually. They sounded beautiful in their ballad, and took on the challenge of Sabre Dance. Always impressive
Marcus- They continue to show why they are, what is it, 5-time repeating UIL SMC champions by being incredible musically and visually. The preshow was very soothing and everything sounded like concert band in concert hall, the whole package. Also another show i can't wait to see in SA
James Martin- Being a part of this band, and making finals at this competition when we placed 19th at BOA Arlington a year ago really blew my mind and everyone in our band basically yelled at the top of our lungs when our school was called. We were so ecstatic, happy, and relieved. It was surreal! Hope we surprised some of y'all. This competition was a wonderful experience for me, and i just wanted to share
