I didn't get to see much of prelims day one so... Anyone have any ideas on lesser known bands (i.e. not vandy cp Reagan Westlake etc) that did exceptionally well? Love hearing about underdog bands!

I'd just like to take a moment to acknowledge how absolutely STACKED this competition is!!! Texas bands really prove why they are most of the best in the entire profession from competitions like this, and good luck to everyone performing this weekend!!! Now for rankings, I really feel like the absence of Duncanville Invitational leaves massive room for "upsets", as we can't compare the Arlington and Conroe regionals in terms of scores. But, this is my guess regardless: 1)Hebron 2)Flomo 3)Reagan 4)CTJ 5)Marcus 6)Leander 7)Woodlands 8)Cedar Park 9)Round Rock 10)Bowie 11)Vista Ridge 12)Vandegrift 13)Cedar Ridge 14)Wakeland That being said, I think, I think the last 3 or 4 spots could be taken away by any of these bands: Coppell, Westlake, Hendrickson, Dripping Springs, Keller, Owasso, Oak Ridge (did really well at BOA Conroe!), Cy-Fair, Brazoswood, Friendswood, or Spring. I think FloMo takes GE, Hebron takes Music, and Reagan and CTJ tie for Visual. From past showings, FloMo's GE points have been insane and I think that this will continue to this weekend. Marcus should definitely give Hebron a run for its money in Music though. Both Reagan and CTJ are so so so sooo good at being perfectly consistent visually and I think they are really the only two contending for that caption.

Thoughts on Cy-Fair? Tied FWood but had higher music to get 14th

Whether the bands made finals or not, state or not, I would just like to take a moment to congratulate all the hard working students. Just in the past two years this area has progressed so much that being called a finalist or even a participant at this competition is nothing to be taken lightly. All bands absolutely brought it today and for that, I feel the students deserve to be given credit where credit is due. Congrats to ALL bands...

I think at this point, any major contenders have gotten rid of "dirt" in their show. Also, I am in no way deprecating falls' quality; they are a top program and have a great history. The only thing I was stating was that relative to not even just other bands but what falls has done in the past, this year's drill is a bit easier. I really didn't mean to offend them in any way...

Any news at all from 13? How many do you think will be in Area E?

I would also like to comment that although Cy Falls drill is well executed, it is somewhat easier than that of other bands of the same caliber.

For 6A, north Brook received a 3 and cy springs, lakes, and memorial received 2's... Already down to 27 bands at area

How many 6A performed and didn't get ones in region 27 today?

1-5 in no order: Cy falls Langham creek Cy fair Clements Seven lakes 6-10 in no order: Cy ranch Katy Taylor Morton ranch Dulles Jersey village Bubble (could knock out someone 6-10) Cy creek Cy woods SFA Cinco Ranch In just a student: far from professional. These are partly from this year's record but also from 2 years ago. As for state, I'd hate to see anyone from 1-5 not go, so hopefully there will be more participants this year at area...

@kingTbone, now that langham, fair, and falls have performed, what do you think? And how about that schedule to put all three back to back haha

Honestly, state is too over ambitious of a goal for this year at least. However, creek has definitely progressed over the years and will definitely be a contender I believe two or four years from now. The new head director is working well with the band, and the program is definitely on the come up. (BTW star trek last year was SOOOO COOOOOL!!!)

I completely agree!! Especially with the group of five above, I would hate to see anyone of them not being able to advance merely because the participation numbers.

Region 27 sent forward langham and jersey (idk which order) for honor band but fair was third. Falls was fifth, but honor band only tells so much in marching competitions. For example, falls has excellent players and sound great despite their not so great placement, and fair recently won best music over seven lakes.

It would be cool to get someone unbiased/unaffiliated with schools in this area to try to make an early prediction, assuming four bands advance

I highly doubt it... I've seen them at the friendswood festivals and they are hardly the ones to make 2's at region...
