all i know is that they start filming this coming up weekfor a pilot but i don't know when they'd be airing it. probably shortly after
-
dunno, this could be a bad thing as well. there'll be distractions, lack in interest in school work? i mean who knows what'll happen. only time can tell. and it depends on the students. so we'll see. it should be interesting. OH, and keep in mind, this is a reality TV show. there is going to be drama out the wazoo. do you want the nation to see you as a band full of drama or as good, dedicated marchers? realities distort the truth and bend it to their wants for higher ratings. come on now, it's MTV!!!! you know, the same people who made Jessica Simpson look like a complete dumb*** and probably ruined her career.
-
i heard the show was going to be called "band geeks" which is probably the worst name, EVER!
-
well supposedly, im not 100% sure if this is correct, but ronald reagon and the woodlands were asked before marcus but those schools turned it down. i'm guessing MTV's decision is based off of BOA performances. but i dunno.

MTV asked Marcus HS to host a reality TV show about marching band! Woo! a marchingband reality tv show. OMG, now they've thought of everything! anyway, they're going to start filming next week!! three episodes for a pilot season
-
well, since marching 5A state is upon us, and we are preparing ourseves, what kinda of ideas do you want to see incoperated into your shows? what types of themes do you have or want to do? what do you not like to see in shows? oh and don't worry, i doubt people r going to steal your ideas (although it is known to happen but this is not my intention) what do people think of singing/chanting in their show?

speakin of cell phone rings and coughing...OMG so i went to a one act play contest for theatre, and i kid you not, they said to turn off cell phones and during the performance i counted atleast 10!!! that pissed me off soo band. and i went to a ny philharmonic concert, it was the worst. it wasnt cold season and after EVERY movement, the ENTIRE audience broke out into a huge, loud coughing session that lasted atleast a min, if not, two!!! it was the rudest/ most akward thing EVER. (atleast in my opnion) lol -

It seems the rest of my message is getting over looked...all I'm saying is that anyone has the posibility of winning. I was using Coppell as some what of an example. My point is that you shouldn't worry about who wins because it all depends on the judges and their mood and interpetation of the music they're going to hear (ex. a judge might think that your band has the best recording of Music for Prague, but another judge might not like how the piece is styled, or played). One person's view is going to be different from anothers. So it's hard for anyone to judge or make the assumption of who is going to win the Honor Band contest. Music is extremly subjective. You know? I'm not trying to put down anyone. I'm really impressed and inspired by all the hard work and effort put into these recordings by everyone. So when July rolls around, all we can do is watch and hope that the judges might favor particular interpetations over others. -

I think if varies...I believe Coppell High School has a good chance because at area, all five judges gave them first place. At this point in the game, its all about what the judges like personally such as interpetation of the music and the style in which the pieces are played/presented. So really, i truly believe anyone can win it. When I see scores like Coppell though, that tells me that the judges really like their interpetation, etc. Everyone, though, should be really proud about their bands accomplishments regardless of advancement or not...to be a part of something like music, it's almost magical, words cannot explain. That should be (atleast to me) the most importart thing about Honor Band submission and any other contest...it's the journey and memories, not the results! Good luck to everyone!! -

You know the rule that if your head director is not going to be at your school in the following year, you cannot compete in the Honor Band submission? well, Marcus' head band director resighed in the middle of the school year. Could Marcus be disqualified because two different directors headed the Wind Symphony, the one that submitted the honor band tape? -

What happened to Duncanville? They went to Midwest this year and I expected that they would be on their way to state especially with the high caliber music they played this year. Interesting. oh, and Marcus' March, Op 99 and Bells for Stokowski are AMAZING. They have some of the best trumpet players. Too bad that they just graduated. -
