  1. Cedar Park's snapshot number for 2022-2024 was 2005. Their number for 2024-2026 was 1966.
  2. Keep it respectful there, skippy.
  3. I get it, you're an Argyle fan. And they are good, no doubt. But you are making a lot of suppositions and including a lot of conjecture. Cedar Park has been doing this for a long time and they play with all of the really big boys in 6A and at Grand Nats, year in and year out. Rouse has been right there with them for the last few years and even they have been unable to unseat the king of 5A. Yes, Cedar Park's string will end at some point, but claiming with any level of certainty who will dethrone them is just silly. Maybe it will be Argyle, but I think it's MUCH more likely to be either Rouse or a promotion to 6A.
  4. Preemptively suggesting that if they don't make finals it will be due to judging bias is fairly obnoxious, imo.
  5. For such a young program, Lake Belton has come a long way in a short time.
  6. Confused as to why it's being held on a Thursday...
  7. Imagine being a senior during the Covid year.
  8. I've never seen a full retreat at Area. I guess it happens some places, just saying it's far from ubiquitous.
  9. There are three music judges and two visual judges. If an Area is, by numbers, is supposed to have 4 State slots, for example, and the band that finishes 5th in Finals was placed above the 4th place band by two of the music judges and one of the visual judges, that 5th place band will also advance to State. In that situation, what has happened is that the 3rd music judge and/or the 2nd visual judge has ranked that 5th place band significantly lower than the other judges, hence the "bad judge" moniker.
  10. Certainly. My point is that the block scheduling is not the issue. A district could just as easily have block scheduling and NOT allow the double block for band.
  11. If schools that do block scheduling allow for double-blocking band class, why can't schools that are not on block scheduling allow for a double period of band?
  12. Brandeis was fantastic tonight. I truly enjoyed their show.
  13. Yeah, there were some very narrow margins there.
  14. Anyone there for Prelims today?
  15. As far as I can tell, the site is still slow as heck most of the time.
  16. I'm hopeful that rain won't have too much impact tomorrow. Wind, on the other hand, could be a little dicey. Anchor those props!
  17. If they started the 8 min clock immediately when music started, they were doing it wrong. For all UIL comps, every band should get 5-8-2 on the clock, no matter when they start playing. Anything that takes place before the 8 min clock is (theoretically) not judged. Playing beyond the 8 min clock should result in DQ, as well as not being clear of the field by the end of the 2 min. One situation where I can see the 8 min clock starting immediately up the start of play is if the competition is running behind and the band's director has okayed the 8 min clock to start immediately.
  18. This is standard for all UIL contests.
  19. There is already a topic for this:
  20. My favorite of all time, but I am terribly biased. I love seeing others appreciate what our kids put on the field that year, though.
  21. There have been years that I thought Rouse might beat Cedar Park. This isn't one of those years.
  22. True is so many parts of life these days.
