Vista got 2nd overall. I'm assuming that Coppell won. -
UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023

The numbers thing is also very much a chicken and egg sort of deal. It's tempting to just look at the numbers and conclude that having a bigger band helps you place better, but I think it goes deeper than that. A school/district that puts a strong emphasis on music, and backs that up with resources and quality instructors, will naturally draw more kids from the school's enrollment. So, in effect, some of those bands are bigger BECAUSE they are good. -

That sounds like an insult. You should apologize. 😄 -

Rezoning discussions will be contentious, to put it kindly. -
As many know, I am associated with Vista Ridge. I am an alumni parent, all three of my kids went through the program. I have been involved at Vista for 11 years now and remain involved today. I am horrified and embarrassed at any suggestion that our parents are saying anything to denigrate other programs, ESPECIALLY our sister schools. That is NOT the culture that I have been a part of for more than a decade now. The Ranger Band family has always been supportive of other bands just as much as our own kids. We cheer loud and long for other bands' performances and celebrate their successes, again, ESPECIALLY our sister schools. We go out of our way to offer help and support if we can and love to make friends along the way. My hope is that the individuals involved in any of these unfortunate situations learn that what they have said is NOT the way we do things. My guess is that these comments are from folks less involved as volunteers and I would suggest strongly that they get more involved. Volunteering to work with and for our kids will open your eyes to understanding just how hard they work, just like the kids from all other schools. On behalf of the Ranger Band family, I sincerely apologize for any and all of these unfortunate incidents. They are not representative of who we are. And congratulations to Rouse on an amazing season! The Ranger Band family is happy for you and immensely proud of the honor you bring to LISD.

UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023

The risk in taking Area results and trying to project them to State is the way the ordinal system works. At Area, you typically have a limited number of really top-level bands. And the ones who ARE there are going to be grouped closely together just because of those limited numbers. It's a different story at State. At State the lineup is loaded. Two bands who may have been right next to one another in the rankings at Area may suddenly find 5 or 7 bands between them at State. Repeat that across seven judges and two bands close to one another at Area could turn into one comfortably in Finals and another well on the outside at State. -

Lake Belton at 2,270. Actually on the 5A/6A bubble. Wow. Leander also 2,270. I'm betting the cutoff is higher.

Omitting Leander is kinda criminal. They may be (slightly) down right now, but are still among the best. -

Two points I'll make 1 - If you question Vandy's ability to perform any music, you really are just showing your ignorance. Love them or hate them, they are an incredibly accomplished program with fantastic musicians. 2 - Please stop referring to Lewisville ISD as LISD as if they are the ONLY relevant LISD in the state. There is another LISD involved here with even more numerous highly accomplished marching band programs than Lewisville ISD has, each of whom could play any piece of music you throw at them and do it with excellence. Yeah, we're talking about, arguably, the top two school districts for marching band in the country. -
