  5. some of you may be familiar with this, but chances are... well doesn't matter Houston Cougar Doll Taucha Hogue has overcome all odds to be in the finals for CBS college cheerleader of the year Doesnt matter what university your allegiance is to, what matters is, in the end we're all Texan so please! vote Texas, vote houston, and vote taucha and if you do vote, please post back on here the % tally, and the number of votes if you want more info, just type in "vote for taucha!" in the facebook search vote here!
  6. are you trying to be a band director in texas?
  7. who told you that? Cuz from what i cant tell/ have experienced, music comp isnt gonna get you a band director job, although it can really help. music ed, and comp classes are extremely similar, if not identical the first two/ three years. then afterwards you start getting into psychology, and 'how to be a band director' classes in MUED, while you start getting into orchestration, and analysis. AND getting the MUED degree gives you a teaching certificate while music comp doesnt. I'm currently mued, and am thinking about starting a double in comp. and make sure, you get your info from the advisors! students, sometimes can be very wrong, even if they mean well. http://www.music.uh.edu/academics/undergraduate.html hope this helps
  8. I dont think it is a sport, and i dont think it should ever be considered as one. some say that to label it as a sport would establish it at a lower level. some say, and quote the dictionary as 'requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature' so therefore band must be a sport. so then, i guess, with that logic you'll have to put yo-yo masters, rubix cube, beauty pagents as sports too. you cant argue that they arent competitive and need some type of physical prowess. and even now people are trying to label eating as a sport. really? really? and you know if you're gonna compete on who's gonna eat the most/fastest, people are gonna want to move using the bathroom after the contest as a sport too (ridiculous, i know, but get what i'm saying?) to me, band is an art, and should be preserved at such. marching is a the physical embellishment of it. and soaking with sweat and glory at the end of the rehearsal or finals performance in your respective 'big contest of the year,' doesnt make it any more a sport
