Churchill and New Braunfels tied for 7th, but Churchill had a higher music score so they received 7th and NB received 8th.

Final Predictions: 1) Reagan: Incredible. Still unsure if they're going to state, but they are awesome. 2) Round Rock: I have a gut feeling that this is Round Rock's year. They deserve a high placement. 3) Bowie: Haven't actually seen them this year but they always do well. I'm hesitant to put them above Round Rock due to the director changes, though. 4) Hendrickson: Hendrickson has been growing tremendously lately and I think they're in a position to do very well. 5) New Braunfels: Amazing show this year. I can see New Braunfels becoming a new powerhouse in the area. However, I think any of the next three bands could make the last spot and it will be a real fight. 6) Churchill: Churchill has had a great season. I'm heasitant to leave them out of finals, but they have a very strong chance. 7) Cedar Ridge: Honestly don't know too much about this band but I'm not sure if they're over the director changes. 8) Westwood: Westwood is great with music but the visual aspect is lacking. I'm not a huge fan of their show this year but they are still a fantastic band! 9) Anderson: See Cedar Ridge. 10) Pflugerville: Not too sure about this band, I can see them sneaking in to finals. --------FINALS CUT OFF--------- 11) Madison: Madison is growing but I'm not sure if they'll be able to sneak in to finals. 12) Canyon: Better than in the past, I think this band is slowly improving. 13) Hays: Show is kinda strange this year but they have always done well. The music choices are very odd but the band plays them pretty well. I think GE is holding them back. 14) Smithson Valley: Sound and look better this year than in past years, but there's not really any impact with the show. This contest is basically locked at the top and then a fight for the last one/two spots. Should be interesting.

Any final predictions before the contest tomorrow?

I was assuming that Reagan would not perform in finals due to their attendance at BOA Nationals. I would assume that they would do what CTJ did and only perform in prelims. Area, BOA SA, State, and BOA Nats are a LOT for those kids to handle in ~2 weeks.

New predictions without CTJ and Reagan in finals: 1) Round Rock * 2) Bowie * 3) Hendrickson * 4) Churchill * 5) New Braunfels * (Cutoff for 25-29 bands at Area) 6) Cedar Ridge * (Cutoff for 30-32 bands at Area) 7) Westwood 8) Anderson 9) Pflugerville 10) Madison --------------- 11) Canyon 12) Hays I think the top three are locks, and it's going to be a heck of a fight for the fourth and fifth spots between Churchill, New Braunfels, Cedar Ridge, Westwood, and Anderson.

All 6A bands in Region 12 advanced except for San Marcos.

Judson and Wagner are two very good band programs that could both give Westlake a run for their money (although Judson ISD just opened a new school so both bands have lost members) for the fourth spot. I think they will definitely make finals along with Stevens and Lake Travis.

I agree with Bowie, I meant to put them in locks. If Bowie moves up to locks then I would move New Braunfels and Churchill into the Upper Bubble, both of those bands are having incredibly strong seasons. This is going to be a real fight for the last two spots.

I definitely think Round Rock will make state, but I'm not sure of bands in the new area after the rezoning. Could somebody list off some of the strong bands in the area?

I'm interested in performances by McCallum and New Braunfels. Considering that both beat O'Connor and New Braunfels beat Dripping Springs (!) and both bands are not usually top scorers, how were their their performances?

Since most of the early BOA events and other large contests have wrapped up, which bands do you think have the potential do make area finals / advance to state in the state's hardest area?

I haven't even seen a schedule for this contest yet, and it's this saturday. They must be struggling to fill it. Didn't this used to be a huge contest?

Have they posted the realignments yet? I haven't found anything yet, but it's past the due date.

I would keep an eye on New Braunfels and Sandra Day O'Connor. From what I've heard, both bands had extremely good showings at the Westlake Marching Festival yesterday and I think they both could be contenders for finalist spots.

Does anyone know what the theme is for Judson's and New Braunfels' shows? Since I'm predicting that one of them is likely to get the third spot, I just wanted to see if anyone has heard anything about their shows this year. You don't usually hear from these two programs that often, and since one of them is likely to place high, I was just wondering if anyone has any insight on them.

Can one of the administrators review and post the set of bands that I submitted for the Westlake Marching Festival? The event is coming up very quickly and I just wanted to make sure that the predictions get in in time for the event!
