  1. hahaha good idea, but i'm PRETTY SURE that if i did that, i'd be grounded from going on trips, and then i wouldn't be able to go to tmea, or boa houston next year : [
  2. life outside of band? i guess...i go play volleyball or frisbee with some friends, eat food, sleep, watch movies...uh...life without band would be strange. i used to play select sports before i was in band, but then i quit everything for band. yay!
  3. i dunno..uh..last year i played with a really quiet and blah sound...but then my band director was like HELLO PLAY LOUDER, so i did. then i had air problems because i was playing louder, so i had to take really deep breaths. now in band sometimes we do breathing excercises that help me play louder with great tone. so, just take a breath in more than one count, and make sure you breathe from your stomach, or something like that.
  4. haha he does...i can't practice past 9 because my parents and brother are asleep, and i happen to play loud when i practice. i begged for a silent brass system, but noooo, they wouldn't buy me one. it sucks....
  5. im hearing great stuff about the cavaliers as always. im hoping scv gets back towards the top sometime soon at least. my vote to win it all is the cadets though
  6. haha, yeah, be glad that you got it. you're lucky.
  7. playing rediculously low is fun, however playing anything below the staff but isn't on bass clef is BOOORRRING. concertino by weber=low pedal c. WOOOOO
  8. yeah, i played it at band camp. the horn part is okay, when it isn't 4th horn...i looked at their part and it was all boring low notes. because low notes on french horn just aren't fun, in my opinion. it's either gotta be high or just middle register..
  9. well...there's a few that i like a lot. 1. Zion by Dan Welcher....it's just crazy. 2. Medea-Samuel Barber 3. Chorale and Alleluia-Howard Hanson...once again, crazy horn parts..but once you learn them, a LOT of fun. 4.Symphony No. 9(New World Symphony) Movement 4, Allegro Con Fuoco-Antonin Dvorak...once again, a fun horn part. 5. Commando March-Samuel Barber...the end is fun. this list would be longer if i didn't go to school soon
  10. hold your horses, i have one on a cd for you, you just have to come get it from me, because i said so.
  11. my favorite movement is the second movement, because of that weird weird weird loud part. it's so challenging to play well, that it makes it fun. heiden can be hard, i was playing it all the way though, and if i just practice until the competition, i know i can at least handle it. my teacher handed me villanelle last year, i decided i wanted to do strauss since no one else was doing it,and next year i'm looking at En Foret.... hah, we'll see.
  12. for solo, i'm either playing Concertino for Horn by Carl Maria von Weber, or Sonata for Horn by Bernard Heiden[really contemporary in contrast to the rest of the french horn music..] and they're both extremely hard songs to play well.my lessons teacher is getting me En Foret just for fun sometime soon, maybe i'll play it next year : ]
  13. -when you have remingtons stuck in your head -when your priorities happen to go... God, band,school,family,friends....... -when you still know stepouts from last year's show, and can still play it. all the time. -when you know how to play shows you weren't even in.[i know how to play haltom 2004 on trumpet.]
  14. we don't have a dance. it kinda sucks, but it's okay because we have a band banquet that is ten times more fun than any other dance could be.
  15. maybe this is just a dumb question, but i have to ask.. why doesn't duncanville do BOA?i mean, they're awesome and could do it. but why don't they?
  16. everyone gets angry, because if we all know what each other is doing, then it would be boring. and you'd be concentrating on what another band is doing and worrying about what they do. it's a trust factor, mainly so that it creates another layer of trust to make the season even better. someone told me that reagan's show is amazing, but i have yet to hear the midi file and i'd really like to.
  17. come on, just one more time, then water. [after we've seriously been marching 180 and it's about a 6-5. they call a water break 2 minutes. that's not even enough time to really get off the field. and i'm not kidding, they time our breaks. when your performance is done, people will be throwing their babies in the air because it will be so good. football games are fun[big lie considering that it's always hot and sticky and grossss.] notes put up an octave on trumpets and french horns sound like herneas or a cat being put into a lawn mower.[no it doesn't, it sounds awesome because horns and trumpets are awesome.] that's all that i can really think of. i have funny quotes from my old band director, but they weren't lies or anything.
  18. there are SO SO SO many rumors going around our school about bands dealing with rita. one of many is... ronald reagan high school evacuated too. but i don't believe it, until i hear it straight from someone from RR.
  19. how can 320 people fit in one band hall? is it enormous or something??i mean we fit around 230 in and ours is two stories in a way...but it's packed. 320...that's insane.poor allen high school with their 400-500 member band. that's just too many.
  20. actually, arundo, my music is easier than last year. haha, i'd rather play the same all region music, than marching music. because i can play marching stuff in my sleep. which i have to do, haha. and it's better to have harder pieces...because then, they'll know who's really dedicated and cares a lot. i mean, it doesn't matter how much you practice, it matters the quality of practice.
  21. i detest having to play the same pieces until december. they get old.
  22. i LOVE the french horn pieces. my lessons teacher already had me practicing one of those. i'm ready to make area this year...and the first horn piece is actually pretty. i wish i didn't do marching so that i could really concentrate well on the pieces.
  23. nuhuh. we have around 230 or 240 now, because i know we're keeping the same number on the field this year as we did last year, but we've gained more little kids. yes,me and him do go to the same school. here's how big our band is:not big enough.
